"Come in and sit down, Harley." Dr. Young said.
The former psychiatrist looked at her doctor and could just tell that something was wrong with her. Something seemed off with her? Perhaps Crane said or did something to her?
"You alright, doc? Everything okay?" Asked Harley.
Dr. Young put on a fake smile. "I'm fine Harley." She felt like changing the subject or there was going to be a mental breakdown. From what type of nerve Dr. Crane hit. "How are you?" She asked.
Harley looked down at her arms. "I've been doing fine since the cuffs came off. My arms were hurting."
The doctor took out her clipboard and looked at her patient. "Well we figured since you don't do anything irrational without Joker, that you seemed harmless enough. But if you try to harm me in any way, then it's back with the cuffs and maybe a straight jacket." Warned Dr. Young.
"I like straight jackets, they are like a hug that doesn't stop." Her tone changed to one that was more dreamlike. "Sort of reminds me of my puddin."
"Speaking of Joker, let's talk about him. Tell me about your relationship."
Harley leaned back in the chair with delight. "Where do I start?" She was wondering what to tell the doctor about? Perhaps she should talk about the wonderful gift that Mistah J gave her last year? Or maybe about all those different things she got for Valentine's day! Maybe she could even bring up how Christmas is? It all sounded like good things to bring up about her puddin! "Me and Mistah J have an amazing relationship! For christmas he gave me a bouquet of flowers." She looked at Dr. Young as she explained. "It was all kinds that I liked! And then we did a heist! Took a few hostages and waited for the bat to show up!" She said in a dreamy tone.
Dr. Young started writing down notes. She knew full well that Harleen Quinzel suffered from a very bizarre case of Stockholm Syndrome. It was a very rare instance where someone falls in love with their captor, but could also mean when a doctor falls in love with their patient, which is the case with Harleen Quinzel!
"By the bat do you mean Batman?" Dr. Young asked. She knew full well that Harley was talking about him, but with so many nicknames, it's hard to keep track of which ones are Batman.
"Of course! Who else would it be, doc?"
There was a specific reason Dr. Young brought up Batman. She wanted to know why there was such fascination with him! It seemed like nearly every inmate had a bone to pick with him, or had an obsession! The Riddler was a good example because he seemed to always leave riddles around for him to find! They were called 'Riddler Trophies'!
"Tell me why you have an obsession with Batman. It seems like every single super criminal is obsessed with him."
Harley gave a confused look. "Obsessed? Doc, I'm not obsessed in the slightest. I'm not like Riddler or Mistah J!" She played with her fingers like she was bored or trying to figure out what to say. "He just gets in the way sometimes."
"So you're not obsessed with Batman at all? I thought you were because of your file." Dr. Young explained.
"Sometimes a patient's file doesn't have correct information. I should know, doc. I was a doc." Harley said.
"And the crimes that you do with Joker to frequently lure out Batman?" She asked.
"That is all pure fun and because it makes Mistah J happy. There is nothing more important than making your lovah happy! Don't you agree, doc?"
Dr. Young stopped taking notes and looked at Harley. She actually couldn't agree with her! There hasn't been any love in her life for a very very long time! Not since High School.
"I can't say I do."
"Why? Can you tell me, doc? I'll listen! In fact, I'm a very good listener!" Harley urged.
Dr. Young rolled her eyes. "I haven't been in love for a very long time Harley." Admitted Dr. Young.
She really didn't want to say that, but felt like it would help her with treatment if she shared a little bit about her personal life. Of course Dr. Young wasn't stupid and wasn't going to do that again! Because if an inmate knows too much information about you, then they could easily strip you of your sanity! It was best to keep things minimal.
Harley was curious. How could she not have somebody to love? Dr. Young was pretty old! She wasn't too old, but she was the same age as her (around thirty-five years old) but she didn't have a husband? Now that was very unusual! All of her doctors had husbands except for this one!
On top of all that, Dr. Young seemed to be saddened or depressed about something. Harley could tell in her voice.
Dr. Young kept thinking about Crane. She wasn't going to let him gain control of her! The doctor had dealt with several super criminals in her life and they haven't broken her yet!
He probably was in his cell by now plotting ways to break her!
She looked at the clock and realized the session was over. The doctor cupped her mouth in shock. "I'm sorry Harley, but the session appears to be up."
Harley kept her smile. "It's alright doc, I know something is on your mind. Could tell in your voice." As she stood up, Harley looked back at her doctor. "So same time?"
Dr. Young nodded and two guards escorted her back to the Cell Block.
Scarecrow was thinking about what happened to Dr. Young during their session? He had warned her that his tale would drive even the sanest people to the brink of madness, but what made the good doctor act the way she did? Something happened in her past. Perhaps it was something she didn't want to bring out? Maybe it was a fear or not?
Then again if she did have serious family issues or has been abuse, then he could use that to further break her.
Crane smiled in his cell. "Next session doctor, I will find out about what bothered you today. Mark my words." promised Scarecrow with an evil smile. "And then I'll break you."
