The last time I had seen Keyi-rah was four years ago and I almost had her. Until, she suddenly vanished without a trace. With all the resources I could dispose, I combed the entire world in search of her.

With no stone left unturned and every nook and cranny of the Earth ventured, still I never found her and now, things have changed. No technology and amount of money got me close to even figuring out where she was. Her existence had been wiped out by a power stronger than my own.

The salty sea breeze whipped past my nose. The air was humid and the surroundings were quiet and yet so disturbed. With ease, I found out everything there is to know about the orphanage where my son had come from.

The Maryhurst Home for Lost Children had recently been abandoned. It was built in 1879 and had been turned over to the government just a month ago. Since the local government had no funds to fix or replace it, they left it abandoned.

It was an old two story establishment that resembled medieval western design. However it was weather beaten and falling apart. That will soon change, to acquire full authority over it I bought the orphanage.

Before I wanted it fixed however, I had to see it for myself. I had to know how she was able to stay here and hide from me for that long. I wanted to know a lot of things, and it starts here.

With sure steps, dry autumn leaves crunched under the soles of my shoes I headed towards the abandoned building and my last ray of hope.

Reaching the pavement that led towards it,I heard scuttling sounds and when I looked around I saw no one. I chalked it up to stray animals that might be around the area. I have to admit, this place can be salvaged.

I could see why she stayed here in the first place. The cobblestone pathways, the statues of angels carved from stone and even the ruined fountain, dirty and surrounded by ivy, they all screamed a mysteriousness of time long passed.

She was a person like that. Always fascinated. Always curious and always finding beauty in things. A soft and gentle soul attracted to beautiful things. A small smile crept up my lips, perhaps I will not demolish the place after all.

I'll have it returned to it's former glory and one day, maybe I'll see her admiring the simple, medieval beauty this lonely place provided. If I had never met her, I wouldn't pay attention to this establishment.

It didn't even begin to compare with the old relics and the beautiful palaces of Europe. This orphanage was secluded, alone and abandoned and it reminded me much of her.

Finally I was by the already opened rusty door. From the outside, the orphanage looked ready to collapse but it wasn't as dark as I had expected, the afternoon rays of the sun streamed through the dirty windows and illuminated the even dirtier and messy interior of the orphanage in a golden glow.

Silently, with a map of the building shown through my sunglasses, I began looking around in the room she had supposedly stayed in. The room beside the children's quarters.

The orphanage was home to four children, mine included. Nuns and a caretaker. I found out that Keyi-rah had worked as the caretaker for almost four years, still the mystery remained as to why I didn't detect it.

Without much difficulty I found a small room with a bathroom half the size of my bathtub, the bed was the only thing in it with three empty boxes.

'Laundry.' was scrawled in a neat writing in the first one. I recognised it immediately, it was her handwriting. I learned everything about her, even the sound of her heartbeat, the smell of her hair and her scent.
