Onism
(n.)the awareness of how little of the world you'll experience.
Cradling a mug of warm coffee,
I am dragged to the open window,
A gentle breeze adorns my face,
The petrichor calming my nerves.
But dread follows right after,
As I finally perceive something.
The vast world lies just to my fore
And I grasp, I have no time!
My yearning, longing and craving,
The thirst to live and love lays there.
More the longing increases,
Deeper stabs the dagger of reality.
The realization sharply slaps my face,
And I know, I can't see the entire world.
Infinite adventures beg for attention,
But I'm no stranger to the reality.
My mind unfolds a profound secret,
Which, to me still is a bit peculiar.
Subconsciously, I propose a deal,
Only to admit my defeat to it,
My defeat to Onism........
