The ground was damp and frosty, the sky glittered a magical blue with stars sparkling in the sky. They twinkled bright and joyful as the wind shifted the bushes softly. The air was sweet with the tang of honey and fresh leaves. Midnight opened her eyes to find herself in this place. Confused, she scrambled to her feet and glanced around.
Where am I? I was just in the den sleeping.
Was she dreaming? No, she couldn't be. This was too vivid. She could use all her senses as easily as she could in real life.
What is going on?
The only sound was the whistling of the breeze and the gentle chirping of crickets.
"Help! Someone help me!" Midnight yowled.
"Hush little one." a soothing voice mewed. Her fur bushed. "Who's there?"
Growling, she flexed her claws prepared to attack.
"All is well, no need to fight." the soothing voice continued more softly. Midnight was unconvinced until a frosty sparkling she-cat padded out of the bushes.
She she-cat dipped her head.
"Welcome to heaven Midnight."
Heaven?
"Am I.. Am I.. Dead?" she didn't dare finish the last word. Fear pierced her chest. I was just asleep! I can't be dead!
"Peace be still. You haven't died. We just need to speak."
So you're telling me, you fetched me from my den in the middle of the night and brought me to heaven to speak to you? Can't you get your tails on earth and speak there instead. She thought her thoughts were private and unheard but when a familiar shape stalked from the shadows with a glare, her heart dropped.
"We can read your thoughts Midnight. Yes, we've fetched you. Show some respect. It is a great honor for any cat to be here especially when they aren't actually dead."
"PeaceLeaf Guardian, why are you here?" she asked.
"I have a paw on earth as well as in heaven."
Wow.
The Guardian sat down and wrapped her tail neatly around her paws.
"We needed somewhere private to discuss."
"Discuss what?" Midnight asked, dumbfounded.
"Your powers."
How..
"How do you know about that?" she asked her thoughts aloud.
The two spirits didn't respond.
"You've not bore the curse from hell so these powers shall probably not be a negative force. Positive power shoots from the vibe it gives." the spirit beside the Guardian pointed out.
"So this strange power." Midnight began. "What is it for?"
The two spirits exchanged a glance.
"The air is thick with the promise of blood." the PeaceLeaf Guardian meowed seriously.
"I feel as war is only over the horizon. These powers of yours will help save us and all good cats. Your power is the key to victory, you will be a soldier in battle."
"Soldier?!" Midnight exclaimed. "Y-you must be mistaken".
The spirit beside the Guardian shook her head. "No, we make no mistakes. Remember DeathBlood cats serve Hell. All demons plan to rise among the earth and fight their way to take over. We spirits must stand by PeaceLeaf's side and fight for our freedom and for the sake of all cats on earth."
"All cats?" Midnight echoed.
The Guardian nodded. "If DeathBlood wins, their demons will rise and with that comes dark spirits taking over earth and life as we know it. The sky would run red with flames. Our earth would be ablaze."
"How do you know this."
"We just do. You must trust us." the spirit told her.
Midnight nodded. "I trust you."
"Good." the Guardian mewed. "I feel war isn't far away. Something tells me this one is unlike any other. This one will bring death and destruction. We must gather our own and train them to be ready. Stand tall Midnight, we need you now more than ever. This war cannot be won without you."

Midnight swung her head up, panting. Just a dream. At least that was what she was hoping. Weak sun was streaming through the den she was settled in. It must be afternoon by now. She could hear voices murmuring outside. Curious, she rose to her paws and joined all the cats in the clearing. They are having a meeting.
She made her way over to a russet she-cat. "What's going on?"
The russet she cat-cat turned her head to glance at Midnight.
"The Guardian called for a meeting. Apparently she is claiming the spirits have warned her of war, a war unlike any other. She said demons are supposed to rise from Hell and the angels from Heaven are going to join our side for a battle that is soon to come."
So it wasn't a dream! It was real! No, no, no!
Panic-stricken she bushed her fur.
"When will this battle be, RedFeather?"
"I don't know. Listen".
Midnight turned to face the crowd, straining her ears to hear the Guardian.
"So with that being said, Reed, Shimmer, FlickerSun, MoonPebble, Bark, Leandro, and MintLeaf go patrol our territory and be on the lookout, split up and search the area for any signs of our enemies."
Leandro!
She bounded over to her friend.
"You better be careful!" she scolded.
Leandro turned, an amused expression on his face.
"I'm always careful. I got this Midnight."
"You better. I don't want to lose you." she nuzzled her friend. Leandro licked her ear in return."I'll be fine."
"Good luck Leandro."
"As to you Midnight." the two friends parted. Leandro took a last glance around and winked at her.
Oh stars!
She was worried for her friend. They hadn't known each other long but the thought of something happening to him made her heart sink.
"Don't worry Midnight. He'll be fine." a familiar voice reassured. Turning, she saw the familiar figure of Hawk.
"Hi." Midnight greeted.
"Hello."
Midnight let her gaze scan the camp. "Where are Pine and Flare?"
"With the nursing mothers. The kits have been given strict orders to stay by their side."
"Do you think there will really be a battle?" Midnight asked.
Hawk shifted her paws with unease. "If the Guardian said so, then probably."
She sighed. I hoped it wasn't true. How many cats are going to die?
"Hawk!" a voice called. Both she-cats turned to see a pale she-cat bounding up to them.
"PaleMoon!" Hawk exclaimed. She rushed over to her friend and covered her in licks.
"Okay Hawk, that's enough."
Midnight purred. Hawk and PaleMoon spoke in hushed tones. Shifting her paws awkwardly, Midnight informed her friend that she was going to take a walk in the forest. She had been given a quick farewell then made her way into the green forest.

The forest was shadowed by a dark cloudy sky above the treetops. It looks as if it might rain.
She bounded over a few stones and lifted her head to taste for prey scents. Nothing. She grunted in disappointment. Perhaps all the prey had burrowed themselves. The faint scent of rain clinged in the air. With the tang of rain something else lingered. A scent? Midnight craned her neck. It was a scent, a forbidding scent, one she despises. It smelt of rotting decay. DeathBlood! She followed the scent, keeping her nose close to the ground only glancing up one time at the sound of thunder.
Dark clouds were swooping in closer now, the forest almost completely shadowed. The scent led to a root of a tree in front of some brambles. A shape stood at a root of a tall thick tree. The shape was a cat, a brown tomcat with a glowing flame in his jaws. Fire! The cat set a stick that was scorching in flames at the root of a tree. No! The cat fled as the tree slowly set ablaze. Launching herself over the brambles, Midnight chased after the cat.
"Get back here you bastard!"
The brown cat glanced around and growled. It turned tail and bushed it's fur, long claws extending. The cat's shaped shifted until its fangs grew pointy, eyes black, pupils red, horns and wings growing on its broad body until the cat looked like a completely different being.
Demon!
The demon lunged at Midnight. Before she has time to react, claws hooked her flanks and flung her into a tree. The breath knocked out of her body, she slowly opened her eyes to see the awful looking creature looming over her. Not today, you bastard! Midnight felt her body intensify and she launched herself and her enemy in the air then flung him to the ground with splattering dust. They tussled and she felt her eyes rage a green fire. Screeching, she sank her teeth in the demon's throat as hard as she could ignoring the hind claws that were raking her belly. She felt her fangs go deeper and deeper then she tore her jaws away with a splatter, her jaws dripped scarlet and the demon went limp.
That's what you get you ignorant demon.
Heat scorched her tail and she turned to see the fire that raged the thick tree passed on to another.
Panic-stricken she made her way back to the camp but as she dashed along the smokey forest floor, she was aware of red beady eyes stalking her from the shadows. They are all here! How did we not notice! Where are Leandro and the others?
Midnight launched herself in the camp and saw backs arched and pelts bushed. PeaceLeaf cats stood in a battle stance facing the DeathBlood cats. Both sides aligned a row with equal amount of opponents. More DeathBlood cats hopped into the clearing along with more PeaceLeaf cats whom Midnight didn't recognize.
One figure in particular stood out in the clearing. It was a broad, scarred tomcat with all black fur and demotic red eyes. DeathBlood's leader. His evil gaze turned to Midnight.
"Well well, seems I was right. These ignorant cats did steal you."
Midnight unsheathed her claws. Hawk crouched at the edge of the clearing defending the nursing den. I hope all the kittens are safe.
"You traitor! You're meant to be a DeathBlood cat!" the evil leader snarled as Midnight made her way closer to him until they stood nose to nose.
"That was never my destiny. I was forced into your stinky forest. Cats deserve free will and that's what I choose. I have never been and never will be a DeathBlood cat."
The evil leader smirked menacingly. "Don't you see, the powers you possess are evil? They can't be used for good. There is a reason we recruited you Midnight. When we first met you, we saw that furious spark in your eyes. Your destined to be evil and use your ambitious for power. You could be DeathBlood's future leader."
"I'd rather live in a deer's rear end." Midnight hissed.
Snarling, the evil leader flexed his claws but tried to remain calm.
"Lord Typhon gave you these powers for a reason."
"Typhon didn't bless me with these powers. These powers were blessed by the Guardian and are meant to be used to stop you and all bad cats."
"You fool! Are you so blind to the truth? How can your powers defeat all of us? You are one cat and we are way more." the row of DeathBlood cats growled.
"You can tell your pathetic Lord Typhon to shove his tail up his ass as well as your own."
The DeathBlood leader stiffened. "You arrogant rat, I'll kill you! DeathBlood, attack!"
