Five weeks. That's how long it's been since Tokyo became my home.
The city is a symphony of neon and motion, more beautiful than any photograph could capture. Studying here, I've found a happiness I never thought possible.
The first few days were terrifying, my Japanese clumsy and broken. But the people here, my new classmates, the professors, even the elderly woman who runs the corner store, they pieced together my meaning with patient smiles.
I owe them a debt I can never repay.
I made friends on my very first day of college. Everyone is generous, helpful, and endlessly kind. And the best part? I have my own apartment. A sacred space where I can blast anime at 2 AM and no one can tell me to be quiet.
Ah~! Life is perfect.
Oh! Almost forgot. It's time.
One Piece time.
With a final flourish of my pen, I closed my diary and tucked it deep into my closet, beneath a folded sweater. Safe.
After grabbing a bag of popcorn from the kitchen, I bounded down the stairs and launched myself onto the sofa.
"One Piece! Here I come!"
I grabbed the popcorn bucket just before it tipped over.
Right. Manners. I haven't introduced myself.
My name is (Y/n) (L/n). I'm seventeen years old. I came all the way from (C/n) to chase a dream, and right now, that dream is playing on my television screen.
"Oh, thank god! It started!" I giggled, curling my legs beneath me.
From the first frame, I was lost. Oda is a genius, a weaver of worlds. When Luffy's fist connected with that entitled Celestial Dragon's face, I shot up from the couch.
"Go, Luffy! Kick that f*ing Celestial Dragon!"
On screen, the World Nobles gasped in horror. But in the crowd, Eustass "Captain" Kid and Trafalgar D. Water Law just... smirked. A silent acknowledgment of a courage most pirates would never dare to show.
"Heh. Those two will never get along, will they?" I chuckled, grabbing another handful of popcorn.
Too soon, the credits rolled. I cleaned up, did my homework, and let the quiet of the apartment settle around me. That's when I heard it.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
I froze. Who could that be? It was past ten o'clock. Quietly, I padded to the kitchen, pulled a knife from the block, and hid it behind my back. Old habit from living alone. Just in case.
I unlocked the door and pulled it open.
No one.
The hallway was empty. Just the hum of the fluorescent light. Weird. I must be more tired than I thought.
