Chapter fourteen

Lorelei hated haggis apparently. Lorelei had made a bowl of haggis fly right on Snape's robes in front of the entire Great Hall. And it wasn't if her daughter was eating the meal, oh no, because she couldn't even eat solids yet. The breakfast chatter had gone mostly silent watching the interaction between the baby and the Defense Professor.

"Honestly Miss. McGonagall," Severus waved his hand in the direction of a spot  on his robes. "Carrots belong on the table."

Lorelei only smiled at the man before shoving both of her hands together into her mouth. Persephone bit her bottom lip to hide the obvious smile she had on her face.

"Sorry Severus." Persephone watched the man take a seat next to her.

"You will be reorganizing my store room as soon as you can read." The man leered at the infant. Lorelei only smiled, reaching out for the man. Severus would never admit it, but he secretly enjoyed watching the child grow. He often spent at least one class period with her a week and each week he marveled at the new skills the child came back with. However, her latest cases of accidental magic have been making things move on her command.

"Good job." Andromeda whispered softly, pressing a finger into Penelope's stomach, causing yet another playful giggle to ring into the air, the incident with the jinx that took place only a few days ago forgotten to the child.

The post owls swooped in from the windows above, a brown spotted owl landing right across from where Lorelei was sitting. Persephone reached for the animal, but it dropped the package it carried and flew away. Persephone pulled it closer to her looking at the label.

"Hey bug." Persephone tapped her daughter's leg pulling the child's attention to herself instead of the different animals flying around the "What's this?" Persephone whispered softly, pulling the strings off the packaging. Persephone pulled out a stuffed octopus that was obviously meant for her daughter.
The baby in question reached for the object liking the bright yellow color it possessed.

Her grip was getting better each day, but Lorelei was still only able to grab a leg of the item and swing it back and forth as she smiled at it. Drool began to pool on her bottom lip and Persphone quickly pulled it away. As soon as Persephone's hand touched Lorelei, the animal changed from its bright yellow into a dull orange . Persephone picked up the card that came nuzzled in the package.

It may come as a surprise, but I do not like seeing children upset. It's enchanted and will change colors depending on her mood. It comes complete with soothing charms and other small enchantments to keep her happy.

P.S. - Will you two join me after dinner this evening? Grand Staircase

Persephone looked up from the note towards Bellatrix's empty chair. A Wizengamot trial was taking place, not a big one, but one popular enough that required the attention of the head of House Black.

"Do you like it, bug?" Persephone whispered to her daughter. Persephone frowned as the child tried to stuff the object into her mouth. "I'll take that as a yes."

"You look cozy." Bellatrix voiced watching the mother-daughter duo appear. Persephone was bundled in a large navy blue, it looked black in the darkness of the night, overcoat that looked far too bulky in the middle.

"It's cold. Look at her snowsuit!" Persephone grinned, opening up her overcoat to reveal Lorelei, who wore a matching grin, up to look at Bellatrix. The snow suit in question was a rich gray color with little bear ears on the hood covering her head.
