8:10 - Emma, Aiden, Luna's house
Dad
Wait, so if she's from the past, how did she get here?
Mom
I don't know.
Dad
Hey! Maybe we could do some research about that time period!
Mom
That sounds great! I'll get my computer.
(Mom leaves)
Esther
Sir? Aren't computers a bit too big for this house?
Dad
No. You see, it is now 2020. It seems that you have traveled forward in time quite a long way.
Esther
2020! That can't be!
Dad
So now we have computers that fit in your lap.
Esther
Woah! So what do you mean by do some research?
(Mom comes back)
Dad
You'll see.
Mom
See what?... Nevermind. Ok, so, I did a little background research. It says the there were a few 'classes' in that time. Here, look (turns the computer to Robert)... it says that there was the poor class, the middle class and then there were some levels of upper class.
Dad
By the looks of how you're dressed, I might guess that you would be around... one of the higher classes.
Mom
Speaking of how you're dressed, we need to get you some new clothes!
Esther
I don't see what's wrong with these ones.
Mom
People these days don't wear that type. We might have to go shopping. And you're not going to be able to eat pork or bacon any time soon.
Dad
Ok. So, I think we should know a bit more about you before we just go buying things for you. Let's start with your name, age and a bit about what it was like and what you're used to.
Esther
I am Esther. I am almost 16. At home my parents are often busy so I do a lot of the cooking and washing up. My father is an engineer. My mother was not very happy when she had two girls before she had a boy.
Emma
(From her room and annoyed) Mom? Who's our new guest? Where is she gonna sleep?
Mom
(To Emma) Honey, why don't you come and see?
(Aiden and Luna come in carrying a tray)
Aiden
We thought you guys could do with some toast, jam and tea.
Luna
Sorry, we couldn't find pearl tea for you, Esther. But we do have some Yellow Label.
Dad
Thank you guys. Why don't you tell us a bit about what you saw when you found Esther outside.
Luna
We just saw her and we didn't really look around because of the shock of finding someone on our porch.
Dad
Why don't you go have a look.
(Luna and Aiden leave, Emma enter)
Emma
Ahhhh!!! Who is that? Mother! How could you let her sit on my favorite couch! She might make it dirty!
Mom
Emma! You can sit somewhere else! We are trying to help her. (To Esther) Although, you probably should take a shower. Let me show you to the bathroom.
(Esther and mom go to the bathroom, Emma goes to the kitchen)
(Bathroom)
Mom
So, this is the bathroom, here is the sink, toilet and bathtub. There are clean towels over there and soap there.
