Chapter 7: Prom Night

It was the day of the prom and everyone in school was gossiping about who would be crowned prom king and queen. Riley voted for Max as king. The others already voted. She was walking away from the booth when she bumped into Siren and Adam, her childhood friends. "Oh my god! What are you guys doing here?" exclaimed Riley. "My mom and Adam's mom decided to move us here and enroll us here." said Siren with a smile. "Well you'll meet my new friends at the prom later, so see ya!" called out Riley.  She ran to meet her new friends and sister. "Today is prom guys!" said Riley excitedly. "A boy asked me to prom and I said yes!" said Nora. "Tommy and Tubbo did the same for us!" exclaimed Kiara and Kiki. "Max? We still need to ask Camilla and Riley." said Chris. "Riley can we talk in private?" asked Max. "Same for me Camilla." said Chris. Camilla and Riley went to Chris and Max to talk each. "Riley everyone else has dates but me so...." Max holds out the flower bracelet. "Do you want to go to prom with me?" asked Max hoping Riley would say yes. "YES!!! I'd love to!" exclaimed Riley and she hugged Max.  Meanwhile Camilla and Chris were in the gymnasium, and Chris asked the question. "Camilla do you want to go to prom with me?" asked Chris nervously. He held out the flower bracelet. "Yes! I'd love to go with you!" She hugged Chris tightly. Everyone was excited for prom and finished their remaining classes.

*Time Skip*

Riley was at home with Nora and Camilla getting dressed for the prom. Camilla and Nora look gorgeous in their dresses. They did Riley's hair into a side bun with a braid and gave her diamond earrings to wear. Riley went to change into her dress. The doorbell rang. Nora unlocked it and quickly ran to hide with Camilla to surprise the boys. Nora went down the stairs first. Ranboo came to help the boys come inside and was shocked to see how gorgeous Nora looked. Then Camilla came down next. Chris couldn't stop smiling at how beautiful she looked. Riley added the finishing touches to her makeup, tied her shawl around her, grabbed her purse, popped a mint into her mouth, put on her heels and walked downstairs slowly and gracefully to Max. Max teared up a bit. "Riley you look fantastic!" said Max. "Thank you Max!" gushed Riley. They walked to the car to meet with the others.

*Time Skip Again*

The teens danced and ate food and hung out with one another. Max danced with Riley and had fun with her. She even danced with Nora, Camilla, and even Kiki and Kiara. Siren and Adam came running over and introduced themselves to her friends. They all sat together and talked about how Siren and Adam first met Riley. Riley turned and saw Ranboo chatting with another boy his age. Nora looked where Riley was looking and instantly recognized who Ranboo was chatting with. Then Kenzie came over. She tried flirting with Max but he kept ignoring her. "Max I can't believe you took little miss princess here to prom!" sneered Kenzie. "Whatever Kenzie I wouldn't go with you cause you're a horrible person and you nearly killed Riley with that push you did." said Max with a stern voice. Kenzie was taken aback by Max's words. She marched over to where Riley was and attempted to slap her but Nora took her arm and pushed it down to her side. "Leave her alone you selfish little bitch!" said Nora with anger in her voice. The vice principal then came onstage. "Thank you students for making this a good night so far!"  The vice principal said. "Now it is time to announce this years prom king and queen. Will the candidates please come up?" Riley and Max went up to the stage and so did Kenzie. "Your Westbrook Marshall High Prom King is..." said the Vice Principal and she took out the card. "MAXWELL STEVENS!!" Riley cheered and clapped for Max. Max hugged Riley and hoped that Riley would be the prom queen. "And now... Your Westbrook Marshall High Prom Queen is...." said the Vice Principal and she took the final card out. A confused expression was on her face but it disappeared. "KENZIE HAYDEN!" "WHAT?!" said Riley, Max, Chris, Nora, Kiki, Kiara, Camilla, Ranboo, Tubbo, Tommy, Siren, and Adam. They were aghast. Kenzie batted her eyelashes sweetly. The other students were confused too. "How many voted her?" asked Max. Riley was hurt and she stormed off in tears. "Wait! I think Kenzie rigged the votes so she could win!" shouted Siren. "I agree!" added Adam. "Let me go find Riley. Be right back!" said Max. He rushed out of the auditorium. He found Riley curled up in a ball on the floor singing softly to herself. "Riley, I'm so sorry. Kenzie rigged the votes so she could win." explained Max. Riley had a shocked expression on her face. Max held his hand out. "Ready to go back?" asked Max. "As ready as I'll ever be!" said Riley who fixed her makeup up beautifully. They walked back in and up the stage. "Just to let you guys know, the Vice Principal sent Kenzie to detention, and she went to go get the actual votes to see who the real Prom Queen is." explained Adam and Nora. "Okay thanks guys!" said Riley. Max stood with his crown on waiting. Riley stood with the other girls waiting for the Vice Principal. "Okay I have the real Prom Queen right here!" announced the Vice Principal. "Your actual Westbrook Marshall High Prom Queen is....." said the Vice Principal and she took out the actual card with the real voted person's name on it. Max pleaded to himself that it would be Riley. Riley hoped and crossed her fingers that it would be her. "RILEY O'CONNOR!!!"  Everyone cheered for her. Max hugged Riley and swung her around.  He placed the crown on Riley's head and handed her the scepter. She bowed. Her friends clapped. This was the best prom ever! Riley wanted to sing a song to everyone but especially to Max. They slow danced while she sang the song "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran.

Riley ended the song and noticed Max tearing up and crying. She hugged him tightly and gave him a kiss on the cheek. She waved goodbye to the others and left with Siren, Ranboo, Nora, and Adam since they were gonna be her new roommates. This prom is one she won't ever forget. The kiss she left on Max's cheek is one moment he won't ever forget either.
