Last Breath (HU fanfiction story)

Chapter 6

   "So, how do you feel now that you have had your first hunt?" Matt asked Danny as they headed back to Matt's. "Well the pain ain't as strong, if that's what you mean?" Danny said in response and just kept staring at the ground as he continued to try and wrap his head around everything that had just happened to him.

"If you don't mind me asking, what were you doing out and about so late at night?" Matt asked him because they all knew the dangers of night-time. "No-one has heard from either you or Jay in days so we wanted to make sure everything was alright. We were gonna head over tomorrow but I was bored so I decided to just head over tonight" Danny explained and Matt was confused for a second until he realized that Danny wasn't aware of the time that had passed.

"Danny, you were attacked last night. You've been unconscious all day" Matt informed him and Danny looked up at him in shock. "What?" Danny threw out and froze. "Come on, let's get back and we'll figure everything out then" Matt suggested and Danny just sighed and nodded as he knew he wasn't going to be able to figure it out by himself.

Following Matt, Danny started to run and hadn't realized how fast he could go until he went flying by Matt, who also was running flat out. "Hold up? What?!" Matt shouted, Danny just laughed and they ended up racing back to Matt's house. Once Matt finally reached his home, he found Danny standing in front of the gate with a shit eating grin on his face. "How on earth are you faster?" Matt threw out and Danny just started laughing again.

"Just as Matt was going to suggest for them to go inside, Jorel came out from the side of the house, completely oblivious to them as he had headphones on with tunes blasting. Matt froze as Danny caught sight of Jay. His eyes went completely black and a low growl came from his chest as Jorel continued walking around.

"Danny! No!" Matt cried as Danny ran straight for Jorel, who only just about heard Matt's cry. Jorel didn't see Danny until he was only five feet away and is still coming at him. "Matt!" Jorel cried as Danny caught hold of him and slammed him into the wall behind. "Danny! Let go of him!" Matt was shouting but Danny couldn't hear a thing. A red film had covered his vision and all he saw was the vampire who killed him.

Matt was terrified for the pair of them. If Danny doesn't snap out of this then he could easily kill Jorel. But that is only if Jorel manages to stay sane, if his demon comes out then God only knows what could happen. As Matt was still thinking all this through, he could see Jorel struggling to stay calm as Danny grabs ahold of Jorel's neck and drags him from the house and throws him to the ground before climbing on top of him.

"Matt!" Jorel cried out again, but this time, it's not Danny he's scared of as he struggles to keep Danny away from his neck. "Danny!" Matt shouted again and went to grab him behind but Danny was much faster. Before Matt even got near Danny, he leapt up and rushed at Matt, knocking him to the ground. "Danny!" Matt cried out as Danny caught hold of Matt's hair and tilted his head before lunging to Matt's Jugular. But he wasn't fast enough. Jorel came at him from the side and threw Danny off Matt. As Matt cried out from Danny's fangs ripping his neck open, Jorel climbed on top of Danny and they had a huge fight over power.

As Jorel ripped Danny off Matt, he managed to catch a glimpse of Jorel's eyes as he went by tand the color shocked him to the core.

To Matt's horror, both Danny and Jorel ended up fighting using their nails as weapons, slashing at each other's faces. Not long afterwards, there were blood splashes all over their faces and arms.

Matt knew that it was Danny going after him that triggered Jorel, it would be for any newborn if they saw their master get attacked. As Matt shouted for their attention once more, everything froze and he could see why. Danny had managed to switch tactics and lunged for Jorel's throat and succeeded this time. Matt ran up to the pair and managed to actually yank Danny off Jorel this time, this only being possible as Danny was distracted by Jorel's blood and the rush that came with it.
