Matt was purely terrified he had screwed up, that he had in fact killed his best friend. Despite the signs showing otherwise.

For the first five hours there was no change, Jorel looked as dead as he ever could. And just as Matt was about to call Marcus, desperate for help, Jorel's hand twitched like he had been given a small electric shock. It was just the slightest twitch ever but it was all Matt needed to know that his best friend was going to come back to him. But then there was no other sign for quite some time afterwards.

Guilt was eating it's way through Matt. He just killed his best friend and by that, damning him to this hellish lifestyle. He was also worried about how vicious Jorel had gotten when he tasted Matt's blood but he just put it down to typical reactions and pushed it to the back of his mind.

The house was completely lifeless. Even the air around them felt dead as Matt sat on the floor next to Jorel's lifeless body on the couch.

As Matt waited for the time to pass, he focused on what he could hear from the outside world. He could hear cars passing by, planes and helicopters flying ahead, the occasional shouting from angry pedestrians who decided to fight right in front of his house. But once the chaos had died down, it was nice and quiet. The wind and birds creating the atmospherical sounds of nature that Matt loved to hear when things get too much for him. Bugs adding their own sound to nature's choir once the wind had died down. It was all entrancing to Matt and he found himself lost in nature's musical.

It wasn't until two hours later when Matt snapped out of his trance. This was due to a sharp gasp coming from Jorel on the couch. Matt looked up to him and found that his back arched sharply off the couch, his face scrunched up in pain.

"Jay?" Matt asked out loud but received no form of response. Jorel stayed in that position for nearly a minute until Matt heard the sounds of bones snapping back together, Jorel's head jerking hard to the side. As his head snapped to the side, Jorel let out a grunt before just completely collapsing back down against the couch. Immediately after it was like it had never happened. There was no other sign of movement and Matt just sighed before standing up.

He walked over to his TV stand and picked up the remote before heading over to his armchair. He then sat down and turned the TV on and over to a programme he had recently found interesting.

He knows there were maximum around 17 hours left of Jorel's transition as long as everything goes as it should, and there wasn't anything Matt could do for him. So he was going to find a way to pass the time.

Seeing as all there was to do was wait, he figured he might as well throw on the TV or take a nap or maybe even both.

And that was he ended up doing in the end. He felt too weak to do anything else anyway due to the amount of blood Jorel took from him. He wasn't going to go hunting until Jorel was ready to go though, just so he could show a more controlled example.

He ended up watching around a full season and a half, maybe more, before he ended up falling asleep sprawled over the armchair as the sun came up.

.............................. ~time skip~

Matt slowly came to and groaned as he stretched the sleep away. It was an unusually deep sleep but Matt wasn't too bothered or surprised due to the events of the past 24 hours.

He looked over to Jorel and was shocked to find him looking extremely pale and stiff cold. Matt stood up and walked over to Jorel, kind of getting even more worried than previously. "Jay?" Matt quietly called but yet again got no response, just as he expected. He was still quite worried but told himself that this was normal.

Matt decided to go get a quick drink, knowing that Jorel should be waking up anytime soon and he's gonna need something to take the edge off so he could concentrate on his best friend. He went into the kitchen, poured himself a shot of whiskey and then threw it down his throat as fast as he could manage.
