Percy has many things to worry about as he sits in his room, back in his family house in Devon reading a detailed letter from Harry about the Slughorn's party. Apparently, he overheard a conversation between Snape and Malfoy, who the latter had sneaked into the party. As it turned out, Malfoy was working for Voldemort. So now, Voldemort is using a sixteen year old to do his dirty work.

Other things Harry also mentioned in that bright letter was that Snape wants to help Malfoy in his plan. Though the professor wasn't welcome much by Malfoy since the kid keeps insisting that Snape was going to steal the glory and refused to tell him his plans. And of course, both Harry and Ron had to add in the letter a few questions about what was going on between him and Hermione after the party to which Percy had sent letters to mind their own business. Because ever since it ended, the two hadn't talked to each other as they all left a few days later the party to headed home for Christmas.

He had also helped Annabeth's cousin Magnus a nose demigod son of Frey for some diving lessons in Manhattan. Annabeth was now studying in New Rome while Luke was working and managed to rent an apartment in San Fransico. Although Annabeth's father wasn't pleased and even sent a letter to 'talk some sense to Annabeth' and even said that he's allowing Percy to date her, he did decline and replied saying that it's Annabeth's life, not his.

As Hegwid flew off with his letter, Percy headed out of his room and rolled into the kitchen. After coming home, His mother now four months pregnant and was showing some signs. So far nothing happened, only a lot of pregnancy cravings and Minnie and Paul are taking care of her. By the time the baby is born, it would be in March. Not a good time to have babies.

So right now, he was saying goodbye to his mom, Paul (he still hasn't called him 'dad'), and Minnie as he apparated back to Hogwarts.

He landed on the Hogwarts grounds. The sun was already sinking over grounds carpeted in deeper snow than had lain over at home. In the distance, he could see Hagrid feeding Buckbeak in front of his cabin. He got a thorough clearance from Filch and Professor Flitwick and headed towards Gryffindor tower. There he spotted Harry, Ron, and Ginny standing in front of the portrait of the fat lady.

"Hey," said Percy. "What happened?"

"New password," said Ginny.

"But we've been away, how're we supposed to —?"

"Harry! Ginny! Ron!"

Hermione was hurrying toward them, very pink-faced and wearing a cloak, hat, and gloves." I got back a couple of hours ago, I've just been down to visit Hagrid and Buck — I meanWitherwings," she said breathlessly. "Did you have a good Christmas?"

"Yeah," said Ron at once, "pretty eventful, Rufus Scrim —"

"Sorry Ron but I've got something for, Harry," said Hermione, not looking at Percy as Percy did the same. "Oh, hang on — password. Abstinence."

"Precisely," said the Fat Lady in a feeble voice, and swung forward to reveal the portrait hole.

"What's up with her?" asked Harry.

"Overindulged over Christmas, apparently," said Hermione, rolling her eyes as she led the way into the packed common room. "She and her friend Violet drank their way through all the wine in that picture of drunk monks down by the Charms corridor. Anyway..."

She rummaged in her pocket for a moment, then pulled out a scroll of parchment with Dumbledore's writing on it.

"Great," said Harry, unrolling it at once to discover that his next lesson with Dumbledore was scheduled for the following night. "I've got loads to tell him — and you. Let's sit down —"
