The apple falls far from the tree

Chapter 35 Gracens POV BRING ME TO LIFE EVANESCENCE

After Felix loaded the crossbow he lifted it up and aimed it at me. I inhaled deeply trying to keep myself together. I faced forward any tried to focus on a small details somewere. I was trying not to pay attention to the crossbow that was aimed directly at my forehead. I stiared stright focuses on a knot it a tree a few yards ahead of me. All the sudden I herd the click of the trigger and saw the arrow flying swiftly Twards my head. I  immediately ducked out of instinct, the apple toppling off of my head. 

It was almost slow motion. I looked up and saw the arrow  landing in the tree were the apple had been second since before. As it made impact with the tree I heard the splintering of the bark. It was a solid launch. The arrow must have been going at a very fast speed If it was able to wedge  itself into the tree that much. 

If only I hadn't moved. If i hadn't moved the arrow would be in the apple and the game would be over. If I hadn't moved the boys wouldn't be laughing at me like they are now. If I hadn't moved I wouldn't be trembling, crouched on the ground like I a man now. I took a breath trying to steady myself. I looked up and saw Pan sniggering with Felix. He eyed me on the ground. 

"See." He said strutting over and looking down at me in a very belittling way. "I told you girls are weak." 

"Hold on a second." I growled standing up. "I still have nine tries left. I will make you eat your words." 

"I'll believe it when I see it." Pan laughed, rolling his eyes. He reached next to me and I flinched in fear that he was going to hit me Ron something. He simple pulled the arrow out of the tree and teleported the apple it out my hand. I motioned to Felix who loaded a second arrow into the cross bow. "Again. And rember if you move and loose all those tries you and your love little sister are mine to do whatever I want to." He then strutted away. 

"Come on Gracen." I said to myself. "You are a strong person you got this." 

"Your thoughts are worthless." Pan snarled from were he stood next to the lost boys. 

"Shove off." I snarled. "Stop reading my thoughts! Now!" 

"I am in charge here. I will do what I want." Pan snarled back. 

I rolled my eyes and put the apple back on my head. This time I starred at Felix. Again the arrow flew out of the crossbow and flew Twards me. This time I closed my eyes and of corse the bloody prick made it count as me moving. Even though the the arrow took off a chunk of the apple. 

Time and time again until it was my last turn he would take off for little things. My last turn. I can't  screw its up now.

I staired at Felix. I couldn't move. I couldn't breath. Total concentration. Nothingness. Close off everything. Breath. I could feel my heart pounding inside my chest. As if in slow motion I saw Felix pull the trigger for what would be the final time. This was it.
