The moment that followed was dead silence. Fiona's face had paled so fast it was almost comical. Hobbit looked a little suprised, more about the reaction to the words Fiona had spoken not the yes answer. Fiona looked at the piece of paper then back up at the twins. The rest of the fairies looked just as pale.

"Fiona!" Loretta said in an alarmed voice. "Did you see the dust...the pictures." Fiona didn't nod or shake her head. Instead she just looked at Hobbit. Hobbit looked just as alarmed. She had just shown up her archrival and she didn't look to happy about it.

"What was that?" Kendra asked finally, figuring nobody was getting anywhere by alarmed silence.

"That was the calling of the great spirts. I was asking them if Hobbit was right about you," Fiona finally said.

"No I mean the chanting. The names." Fiona, if possible, looked even more alarmed by this.

"She understood," Alora said in a stage whisper. Fiona studied Kendra up and down.

"This one is dangerous," she concluded. "If she falls into Wixard's hands she will not be of any advantage to us."

"Duh," Hobbit told her. "We just found out she was the chosen one." Fiona paled even more.

"Get them out of here," she said, trying to keep her voice calm.

"What? Why?" Kendra asked.

"Because," Annet said before anyone could stop her, "if Wixard finds out who you two are, we'll be in trouble." Brendan's eyes widened, then narrowed. He'd had plenty of experience with girls who cared more about themselves than others, boys too. Kendra just stared. Brendan was about ready to shout at the fairies, ask them how they had been elected when they were just a bunch of lazy slobs that cared more about their appearance than the kingdom or whatever they were supposed to be ruling. He wanted to reach out and shove the wand Fiona was hold right up a certain part of her backside. But he didn't, he restrained himself. Even though Hobbit had the same look on her face. The kind of look Brendan didn't want to be on the receiving end of. Despite their general cowerdness, the fairies held their ground, trying to keep from shrivling up under the deadly stare of Hobbit's gaze.

"I think," Kendra said finally, her voice echoing around the room. "I think you need to sort your values out." Then she turned and left the room in a calm manner that Brendan would not have been cabible of.

Hobbit and Brendan were left alone in the room. Hobbit's scowl dissipated a little as if she was surprised at the nerve Kendra had. The door studded with rhinestones didn't take a long time closing after Kendra but the gong sound that shook the room lingered like the smell of rain after a storm. Brendan finally came to his senses.

"You sound better with your mouth closed," he told them, trying to imitate Kendra's cool voice. This wasn't necessarily the same type of comeback Kendra had used on the fairies but Brendan had used it before.

"I am not going to forget that comment. I can leave your sister. But I will get you," Fiona said threatingly.

"The only reason you won't touch Kendra is because she's more powerful than you," Hobbit muttered.

"I won't forget that either, Hobbit," Fiona growled. Hobbit looked around at the windows and the sunlight streaming in through their glass panes as if seeing them for the first time.

"Say," she said in a light voice, "it's a beautiful day, to leave them alone." Brendan had a sinking feeling as he looked from Fiona's livid face to Hobbit who still had the traces of her words in her eyes that things could get physical. He'd only seen one real fight in his life. He and Kendra had gotten out of the classroom late for recess and and headed out the back doors instead of the front to get to the playground. Trevor Campbridge and Yodel Wishington. Kendra could run pretty fast to get teachers, but no teacher was here now. Hobbit surprised him though.
