Rain showered down upon the cobblestone streets of Ponyville. The town's residents were all warm, inside their homes. Except for Scootaloo.

The little orange pegasus with the pink and purple mane scrambled to find some house, any house. Her hooves splashed against the muddy ground as she shielded her eyes with her hoof. She coughed as a puff of dust flew into her mouth.

She stopped upon seeing a rainbow-hued building that appeared to have somepony in it. Scootaloo trotted up to the door nervously and knocked, hoping that whoever lived here could give her some shelter for the night.

"Yes, who is it?" a voice called, and a rainbow maned earth pony came to the door. She looked at the little orphan filly and gasped. "Why look at you, darling! You're an absolute mess!"

"Yeah, I know." Scootaloo said as the mare rushed her inside. She had to shield her eyes once again from the bright colors that decorated the house. The cyan earth pony rushed around, grabbing a wet towel and wiping the mud off her hooves, as well as Scootaloo's.

"Now, little darling, why is your mane so messy?" the mare asked kindly, pulling out a brush and combing Scoot's mane. Scootaloo winced as Rainbow Dash pulled at the knots in her short mane. Scoots was never really into fashion or any of that, but she had to admit that this was kind of nice.

Rainbow dash then went over to a rack of dresses, pulling out a light blue dress with a small lightning bolt at the neckline. It was really cool looking, to Scootaloo, not like the frilly froo dresses she had seen in Unicornia, where she was from. She had to run away, due to her sister constantly reminding her that she was a pegasus and Pegasi don't live in Unicornia. Scootaloo had gotten so angry that she ran away in tears.

"Here you go, darling!" Rainbow Dash said, giving Scootaloo the dress. "I made it myself!"

"O-oh, thanks..." Scootaloo smiled, putting the dress on. She spun around, and the fabic spun around her. She looked at the lightning bolt on the neckline and smiled. It was as if Rainbow had known exactly what she wanted.

Scootaloo smiled at Rainbow, and she stammered as she tried to tell her. "I-I'm an orphan, s-so can I stay here for the night?"

"Oh of course, darling!" Rainbow Dash said, smiling at her and pulling out a sleeping bag that was (of course!) rainbow-colored. Scootaloo snuggled down into it as Rainbow Dash trotted back to her own bedroom.

Scootaloo smiled as she closed her eyes. She light blue dress rumpled around her as she thought about the pony who had saved her.

Someday, she thought, I'll be just like Rainbow Dash... Once I get my cutie mark...

Apple Spice looked worriedly at her sister. The light yellow filly pulled at her bow as her sister paced back and forth.

"Apple Spice, aren't you going to help me here? I can't find me bubble pipe all by meself!" Puzzlemint said, looking at her annoyed little sister. Apple Spice stamped her hoof and trotted over to the couch.

As she lifted up one of the cushions, she turned to her sister. "Puzzle, it's the middle of th' night! Shouldn't we be goin' ta sleep?" Apple Spice said, trotting to her room. She did love Puzzlemint, but her detective sister could really get on her nerves sometimes.

As she snuggled into her bed, she looked at he blank flank sadly. She had tried everything, but had never gotten it. And to make it worse, her sister was always keeping an eye on her and watching her every move, as if she were a little baby.

I'll get my cutie mark someday, Apple Spice thought, and then I'll show mah sister that ah'm not a baby anymore...

"There!" a little white filly with a lavender and pink mane smiled, giving the customer a small piece of taffy. As the mare left, she trotted to the front of the store and flipped the sign to the CLOSED side.

"Cotton Candy?" Sweetie-Bell called to her sister, who was also the pony who let her sell candy at her store. Sweetie had never actually tried candy making before, but she did love candy.

"Sweetie, could you put the leftover candies in the freezer while I finish cleaning this place up?" Cotton Candy asked, grabbing a broom and sweeping using her front hooves.

"Sure!" Sweetie smiled. She started packing up the candies, but she secretly wished her sister would let her actually make the candies, not just hoof them out.

Cotton Candy trotted over to her and put a hoof around her shoulder. As if she had read her mind, she smiled at her sister. "I'll let you make them one day. Just... Not today."

Sweetie looked up at her sister, and trotted up to her bedroom. Night was settling, and she was pretty tired.

"Night, little sis." Cotton called as Sweetie made her way to her little bedroom. She looked up at a picture she had made for her sister when she was younger. It was a drawing of both of them holding hooves. It said "Sisters By Chance, Friends By Choice" on the bottom, and Sweetie had kept it. Her sister and her had an amazing connection to each other.

Sweetie settled into bed, thinking about her blank flank. One day, she thought, my sister will let me make candy. And maybe, I can get my cutie mark, too.
