3rd Person POV.
In as room where everything is white, two kids are having a match on chest. This kids are Sakayanagi Arisu, a natural born genius. And the other one is a child who lives inside this walls, Ayanokouji Kiyotaka.
Silence filled the room. The only thing that the observers can hear are the chess pieces moving.
The battle between the two is so intense that even Arisu's father is sweating. The same can be said to the observers of the match.
The battle is unclear. They don't know who is going to win. After one move, the other one will be cornered. Then after another move, the other one will be the one who is cornered.
The battle of Arisu and Kiyotaka are more intense than what one will see in an national competition.
Then after 45 minutes of playing, the match is over. And the winner is....
"T-the winner is Ayanokouji Kiyotaka."
One of the observers said.
(I added observers to their match for plot convenience.)
Arisu just stared at the chess board in front of her, completely ignoring one of the observer. Kiyotaka won by sacrificing his queen. His move is a risky one considering that almost all main chess pieces in his side are almost gone. But even so, he still won.
As Arisu stared at the chess board, the boy across her widen his eyes as soon as the match is over.
No one, not even professional chess players, has pushed him this far. He knew that if he didn't use the move that he did, he would lose.
Before he knew it, sweats began to form in his forehead. He wiped it.
Meanwhile, in another room...
"Well. That is certainly unexpected. Right, Ayanokouji-sensei?"
Said Sakayanagi while wiping the sweats on his forehead.
"Hm. It really is. Your daughter is more incredible than I thought."
Ayanokouji said. He took a sip on his tea before continuing.
"She managed to push my son this far. This has never happened before. I am impressed."
Sakayanagi just smiled at his superior. But something is still unclear.
What is your real goal here, sensei?
Sakayanagi asked in his mind.
Back to the room~~~
"A close battle. But in the end, I still lost. It's a good game, Ayanokouji-kun."
Arisu said a she reached her hand towards Kiyotaka.
Kiyotaka stared at the hand before finally taking it.
"Yeah. It is a good game."
He replied.
Kiyotaka looked at her hand again.
Something is in his mind that he can't help but wonder.
Why did 'that man' let an outsider play with me?
He remembered something that his father once told him.
'You don't need to learn anything from the outside. It will only slow your growth.'
Those words are the words that 'that man' said to him when he once asked what is it's like outside this white walls.
Arisu then grab Kiyotaka's hand with both her hand. The two of them, Arisu and Kiyotaka, didn't let go of each other's hands. Then Kiyotaka notice, Arisu's right thumb is moving, or more like tapping. But it's only a light tap that one might mistake it as her just embracing his hand.
'Morse code?'
Kiyotaka thought.
After the light tapping that Arisu did, Kiyotaka tried to decode it in his mind. And the sentence that he created is...
"Arisu."
A man called out to Arisu. That man is Sakayanagi, Arisu's father. And behind him is Ayanokouji, Kiyotaka's father.
Arisu then let go of Kiyotaka's hand. With her right hand, she grabbed her cane and walked away.
"How was it?"
Sakayangi asked his daughter in which the daughter just simply nodded in return before speaking.
"Hm. It is a fun experience."
She replied with a smile.
"I see."
Sakayanagi hid his uneasiness to her daughter. No matter how hard he thinks, he can't think of an answer to the question 'What is Ayanokouji-sensei planning?'.
Sakayanagi and Arisu bid farewell to Ayanokouji because it is now late at night. The kids' chess match took longer than Ayanokouji expected. But at least there is...
Ayanokouji walked towards his son, who is looking at the chess board again.
"Kiyotaka."
Kiyotaka looked up at his father.
"What do you think?"
He asked his son. Then the son in question, Kiyotaka, remembered Arisu's message to him before she left.
"Be careful."
Two simple words that holds a lot of meaning.
His father is asking something related to Arisu's message. And it's....
"She has the skill of a professional player, or maybe even stronger than that."
Kiyotaka paused before continuing.
"I see. Remember Kiyotaka, humans are just tools. Winning is everything in this cruel world. It doesn't matter what you sacrifice. As long as you win in the end, it's all okay."
"...yes..."
Meanwhile~
Inside a black car that is driving in the dark road, Arisu is lost in thought.
She is excited because she will see Kiyotaka again in a week. They will play chess again. Then the week after that, and then the week after that.
Her heart is pounding so much that she feels like her chest is going to burst anytime.
But little did this little girl know...
This day is the last day that they will see each other.
A/N:Hey! Sorry because this chapter is a short one. I'm actually doing a lot of activities from school right now. Just so you know, I'm just a 8th grader from Philippines. The Prologue of the new fanfic that I am doing, which is the book version of School's Parents, is on it's way. I'm doing some modification to it before I release it.
And also, I need story suggestion. I'm running out of ideas and I'm not happy about it :)
