Since leaving the commander's office, Levi kept thinking about the conversation they had. While he had trained his recruits, he had never trained someone like Ericka, who had no formal training in the 104th Cadet Corps.
Would she be easy to train?
Considering her lack of fighting skills, it would take patience and persistence. Though, Levi did see potential in her.
Damn you, Erwin, he thought with a click of his tongue. Setting me up to mentor that new brat...
His boots clicked along the timber floor as he paced down the corridors. Scouts passed by, giving the Captain a salute. The Captain gave a slight nod and kept walking.
Right now, he couldn't care less about these brats. All he could think about was how he was going to mentor that new girl. Of course, once she's fully recovered.Once he reached Ericka's dorm, he knocked on the door. Moments later, the door creaked opened and Ericka poked her head out. She looked at the Captain in surprise.
"Oh, Captain Levi. I take the conversation with Commander Erwin went well."
Levi kept a stoic expression. "Becker. Come with me." He beckoned her to come with him. "Let's go for a walk. You and me are going to have a talk about something."
Ericka blinked. "Um, is something the matter?"
"No." Levi shook his head. "Just come with me. I want to talk to you about something."
⚔⚔⚔
Silence fell between Ericka and the Captain as they followed a path in the garden around the barracks. She had no idea why she was invited to go for a walk since this was the first time since she came to the Scouts' HQ that she actually had any one-on-one interactions with the Captain.
"So, why did you bring me out here?" Ericka enquired, breaking the silence.
Levi fixed his gaze on Ericka, his face aloof.
"You never had any combat training or use of ODM gear, right?" Levi asked, brow raised.
Ericka shook her head. "No...why do you ask?"
Levi hummed in response. "Just as I thought..."
Ericka frowned in confusion. "Sir, why did you asked me that?"
Levi sighed, running his hand through his dark hair.
"Do you have a plan what you plan to do once you've recovered? Anyone you can live with?"
Taken back by the man's question, Ericka stared at her feet and shook her head. With her parents dead and without a place to live, she realised there was no place for her to go. Except the Survey Corps. That is, if she is allowed to stay here longer.
"No, sir." She heaved a long sigh. "I...I don't have anywhere to go. Please, let me stay here a while longer. I promised I wouldn't cause any trouble." She looked at the older man, her eyes filled with tears. "And you have my word. I'll do anything you say. Just...please don't leave me alone. I...I've already lost the people I know. I've only met you the scouts for a day, but already, I feel you're the only people I can trust."
