Days had passed since Ericka settled in the Survey Corps' HQ. During that time, she had gotten to know Hange and Levi's squad. Her leg and other injuries had recovered, and now she could easily run and move around freely.

The only thing she needed to be mindful was her ribs. According to the Hange, Ericka may have bruised it when she fell while escaping her village. She had vague memories about it, but she did know she was being chased by a mindless titan that day.
A startling experience left her stumbling forward, resulting in a hard impact on the ground.
It was a miracle she survived and had regained consciousness a little while later.

"Today will be a theory lesson on the different types of titans and how to kill," Levi said, commencing the training session with Ericka. "So I suggest you don't slack off."

Ericka's face faltered. Hiding her disappointment, she tried putting a small smile and pretended to be excited about this.

"Okay. So, no fighting yet?" she asked.
Levi led the younger woman inside, opening the door wider.

Ericka raised a brow. "Are you saying I can't fight? And did the other scouts start off learning theory?"

She looked away from the captain. However, she couldn't resist his mesmerising grey-blue eyes, and she brought herself to face him.

"Mmm..." Levi hummed in response. "It's very important that you understand the many classes of tians, the weapons we use, and the methods used to attack. Also," he narrowed his eyes anxiously at her, "if I just give you the gear now, then you'll most likely mess up and hurt yourself."

He looked straight at her, actually caring for her. He didn't want her to fall and break a bone.

"Hmm. I suppose you're right."
Ericka heaved a sigh. "Alright, fine. I'll do as you ask then. After all, you are the expert around here." She paused for a moment, her brows creasing. For as long as she remembered, there was a question that kept troubling her she never knew the answer to.
Perhaps the captain might know.

"Um, Captain Levi, can I ask you something?"

The captain, who was writing on the blackboard, faced his pupil. He sighed, crossing his arms.

"What is it?" He spoke with an impatient tone.

"What do you know about the titans' history?" Ericka asked.

Levi paced around his bookshelf, gathering some leather-bound books.

"Titan history comes later. Today is just an introduction," he murmured, his back turned from her. "For someone with little knowledge, it's better if I show you the ropes. Now, are you going to stand there, or are you going to sit down?"

Hesitantly, Ericka entered Levi's office. She remembered coming here for the first time just a couple of nights ago. The man really knows how to keep things in order.

Grabbing a spare chair, Ericka pulled it up towards the captain's desk. She propped herself down just as the raven-haired man dumped a stack of books in front of her.
Dust gathered over the wooden surface. That earned a scoff from the corporal.

"Damn books..." Levi sighed and opened one of the books. He pointed to a page of text. "Start reading. Then we can discuss it."
