The above picture is how Kai looks to me. But you are free to imagine him however you like.

~Kai~

I looked at my father. He wore a blue armor which matched his eyes. His long silver hair was pulled back in a ponytail. He looked majestic in his gear. But I was afraid. Afraid that he would never come back. Mother held my hand tightly, her face hiding her fear.

My father knelt down to my eye level and handed me a sword. Not just any ordinary sword, but the Great Dragon sword. It was too big for a seven-year old to hold but it wasn't as heavy as I had imagined. "Promise me son. You will protect your mother while I'm gone."

I nodded my head. "You don't have to worry about mother. I will protect her, no matter what." I stated. He smiled and stood up, facing my mother.

"This kingdom is yours now, Millenia. Guard it well." He hugged both of us and walked out of the room, his metallic boots clanking with every step he took.

"Goodbye father." I whispered, tears rolling down my face.

I woke up, panting. I felt something wet on my face. When I bought my fingers to touch my cheeks, I realised they were tears. I buried my head in my hands. It was so frustrating. My father had died fifteen years ago yet this memory haunts me.

I got out of my bed and went to the bathroom. I stripped my night clothes, letting them fall on the floor. The bathtub filled with water at my silent command and I let myself sink into the cold water. The picture of my father was embedded in my mind. My tears were lost into the pool of water surrounding me. My emotions, drowned in my element.

I sat on the throne, beside my mother on the raised platform. My mother looked absolutely gorgeous as usual in her black gown with golden intricate embroidery. Her long black hair was open and flowing, her head adorned with empress crown. She sat with an aura of power and authority. I faced the members of the court, who sat in their respective thrones.

A soldier walked in and bowed in front of my mother. My mother flicked her hand, permitting him to speak. "Your Majesty, a messenger has come from Knight Land, saying he's got a message from the King. Shall I bring him in?"

"Yes, bring him in." King August aka, the King of the Knights, was a good friend and our biggest ally. He had helped us a lot during our war against the vicious Vampires. But it was interesting that he'd send us a message. He usually came here and conveyed his message to my mother in person and vice versa.

The messenger came in and bowed. He opened up the scroll and started reading: "Grettings Queen,
As you aware that my daughter, Princess Isabelle Phoenix, will turn twenty soon. So it calls for a big party.
I cordially invite you and Prince Kai Dragon to be present for her birthday ball, held in the ballroom of the Knight Palace, on 8th of July, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The theme is the colour red. Your presence will surely make us delighted and happy. Hope to see you there.

Yours truly
King Phoenix."

My mother smiled and nodded. "Inform your King  that my son and  I will surely be present for the birthday ball. You may leave."

The messenger bowed. "Long live the Queen." And exited, his footsteps echoing through the hall.

"If there are no other things, the court is dismissed." She waited, her eyes swept throughout the hall. All the members stood up and bowed.

"Long live the Queen." They sang in unison and exited the room, one-by-one, their footsteps echoing.

I stood in my balcony overlooking the vast ocean right in front of our palace. The palace was situated on the beach, which made it easier to keep an eye on the sea routes.  The sun shone on the ocean, making it look more bright and vibrant. The seagulls swooped down, catching fishes with their beaks and gulping them down. A few fishermen were visible, throwing their nets to catch fishes and sell their catch early.

"There you are, Kai." I turned around to see my mother walking towards me. I smiled and turned back around to admire the view.

"I wanted to talk to you about the Princess's birthday ball."

"Yes, what about it? Of course I shall go."

"Thats okay and all, but I want you to get along with her."

I huffed irritatingly. "Mother, I..."

"I'm not asking you to marry her. She clearly wants to establish a friendship with you and I think you should let her. You don't have any friends. You spent your entire childhood studying and learning, instead of playing and making friends like all the other children."

"Thats because I want to help you keep our country safe. I don't want to indulge myself in such trivial matters like love or friendship. I like being alone."

She smiled sadly. "I know dear. But atleast be nice to her when she speaks to you. We are allies. We should get along with each other right?"

"Okay. I shall be nice to her." I agreed reluctantly, looking at my mother. My mother smiled and hugged me. I patted her back awkwardly. I was never good at these acts of love.

"Well then, I shall be in my room if you need me for anything. I have some work to do."
