one

the thirst that coursed through her body was indescribable. even after nearly 500 years of stalking her prey, athena still struggled to hold herself back as she waited for her moment to strike. she gulped, a dry feeling going down her throat as the vemon made its way to her fangs. 

to her, humans were naive. dumb even. they never paid attention to their surroundings- to that bone chilling feeling that went down their spines when they were being hunted. it was something that she thrived on and something that she manipulated for her own gains. 

athena walked quickly, with quiet and light steps- a habit she had unconsciously begun to mimic from watching her sister alice. she snuck up behind him, swiftly placing her hand over his mouth as a soft giggle left hers. 

"now, you really should be quiet. it it really for your own sake or this might just be far more painful than need be," said athena. she bared her fangs and soon they were buried deep into the man's throat. 

"and here i thought that you were always partial to learning your victim's names," sounded a voice down the dark alley that she was in. athena lifted her head out of her victim's neck and looked up to find her favourite siblings, Emmett Cullen and Rosalie Hale. 

"my, my, my. look what the cat dragged in," said athena as she dropped the man she was holding. he writhed around in pain on the floor and athena snuck a peak at him before rolling her eyes. she placed a foot on his neck to both silence him and stop him from crawling away. 

"hello sister. we need your help," said Rose as she looked on in disgust at her sister's actions. even though she loved her dearly, her disgust in her actions was never something that she hid. 

"how bold. why exactly would i help you?" remarked athena. 

"because we're family. and we don't let family die," said rosalie.

"mmh, not good enough i'm afraid. i don't really want to have to deal with uh, you know who," replied athena. she let out a sigh as she continued to feel the struggling of the man beneath her foot. with a swift manouver of her leg, she snapped his neck. she looked back up to her siblings. "i would rather choke on my own tongue," 

"i know you don't want to see him but the volturi are gonna come after us. we need your help," said emmett. 

"why? should i just blindly go into battle just because of them? what exactly have you done to make them come all the way to forks?" asked athena. that was her first mistake. 

"you've been keeping tabs on us. that has to mean you still care," said emmett. "if you come with us, we'll explain everything," they both knew it was a bad idea not to tell athena that her mate had gotten his bloodsinger pregnant and they were fighting to protect the child that ensued from that but they knew that she would never agree to come home with them. 

"so what? i like to know which cities to avoid," said athena. she tried to act strong, but they both heard the slight waver in her voice. Rosalie sighed and moved slowly towards her sister.

"look, i know you're not really interested in us but we need your help. you are the only one who could keep us safe if they decide not to listen," said rose as she crept closer and closer. she was face to face with her know, close enough to want to reach out and wipe her finger through the blood that coated her sister's chin. 

"please,"she said but could see the hesitation in her eyes. she sighed again. 

"can you at least come back for esme then? you haven't seen her in almost 50 years. she needs you too," said rosalie as she stared deep into athena's eyes.

athena couldn't lie to herself, she missed her mother. she even missed her father, her creator, a fact that she found hard to let herself understand. 

"alright, fine. i guess i'll go. but you better tell me what the hell is going on as soon as i get there," said athena and rose smiled, genuinely for the first time in a long time. 

"what do you mean 'when you get there'?"asked emmett as he walked closer to the girls. athena smiled her innocent smile that would chill a man to his core. 

"well, you two interrupted my meal. you wouldn't want me to eat that entire little town of yours now do you?" replied the brunette as she turned and walked away from her siblings. 

she could only imagine what fun she would have once she returned home to forks, washington.
