As I ran farther and farther away from the house that I was locked up in, I noticed a few changes in scenery.
There were old-looking brick buildings with spray paint all over the sides. And the sky seemed a little darker over on this side of town. The streets were deserted, except for the occasional car or taxi that passed by.
What had happened to this side of town?', I wondered inside my head.
I found a bench after a few more minutes of walking and decided to rest on it for a few minutes while I would try to see if I could get any internet connection so that I could call a taxi.
I dialed a taxi cab businessś number and was told that my cab would be here shortly.
Humming to myself, I continued to look around at the area around me, seeing beer bottles, trash, cand wrappers, and even broken glass almost everywhere! A gasp left my lips when I felt something rub against my legs.
Please don't be a rat, please don't be a rat!
I don't want to get rabies!
Not now and not ever!
After taking a couple of deep breaths to collect myself, I gathered the courage to look down to find out what was rubbing itself against my legs.
It was a puppy! A puppy!
" Aww!", I gasped before bending down and picking up the puppy.
" Welcome to the family, little guy/girl", I told the puppy earning puppy kisses all over my face.
A few minutes later the taxi arrived.
The taxi driver got out and opened the backseat door for us.
I carried the puppy with one hand and carried Laila with the other.
" Where do you need to go?", The taxi guy asked us after we got in.
" Lakes, New Jersey".
