"Babe, I was thinking," Jack says as he caresses my hair as my head lays on his lap. He took us on a picnic on the empty beach, it's also 2am. "What have you been thinking?" I ask.
Cameron found his own apartment with Nash on the strip. I still live with my aunt. Since I am the only teen in the house, I have Jack over a lot more.
He smiles, "maybe we should move in together, find an apartment like Cam." he says and I look up at him. Was he serious?
I sit up and look at him, "really?" I ask.
He shrugs, "your eighteen and I'm almost nineteen, how hard could it be?" He asks. This actually wouldn't be a bad idea.
"But do you know how much that costs?" I ask. He looks at the water in front of us, "we both have jobs, Sam. Plus this would give us more alone time, now that my parents are always at the house," he says.
It all makes some sense, "it sounds amazing, but I have to think about it," I say and lay back down on the scratchy blanket.
I stare at the cloudless night actually pondering the idea. With Jack, it doesn't matter what we're doing. Speaking or not.
Living with Jack. That has a ring to it. There will be people who may disagree, but most will support us.
I do like the idea of more alone time, to be honest. I look up at him, he's gazing out, reflecting the ocean from his eyes.
"I want to, baby," I say gently.
He looks down at my eyes and smiles, "great," he says than kisses me.
_____
"Jodi," I start as her, Jack and I eat dinner at my house. I have invited him over to discuss it with my aunt.
"Me and Jack have talked about getting a place of our own," I start. Her eyebrows furrow, "like together?" She asks as she eats a carrot.
I look at Jack and nod, "I am eighteen. I need to fin for myself," I say.
She listens carefully, "Jack do you have a job?" She asks, giving Jack a intimidating stare.
He swallows, "yes I do," he says nervously. I hide my laugh, "once you find one, and show me your plan, I suppose it will be fine with me. Have you asked your parents, Jack?" She says. I smile and so does Jack.
We never really asked his folks, because they don't really care, but we can't let her know that. "They've approved," he says and I laugh at his seriousness.
She smirks, "okay," is all she says and we finish eating.
I decide to stay at Jack's since his parents are at something in Oklahoma. I set my bag down as I enter the door. He shuts it behind me, "so you think she'll let us?" He asks.
I shrug, "well it's not fully up to her, because we both are adults, but yes," I say.
He smirks and places his hands on my hips. "I can't wait, really," he says.
He slides his hands to my butt and kisses my lips slowly, "lets go to my room," he says and he doesn't wait for a reply.
He carries me up to his room, and lays me slowly on his bed. "For luck," he says as his cold hands slide off my underwear. I shiver at his action, "your hands are fucking cold, Gilinsky," I say.
He laughs, "I love it when you call me that," he says.
_____
I fall asleep with my head on Jack's chest. At around 9am I hear my phone go off. I move quietly, not to wake up Jack and answer it.
"Sam, it's me," I hear. I slip into the hallway.
"Cameron? Hi, why you calling?" I ask as I rub my eyes.
"I heard from mom, you're planning on moving in with Gilinsky," he says.
I smile at the thought, "that's the plan," I say.
"Well just let me warn you, its hard. Trust me I know. Especially having a roommate, Nash never cleans up after himself," he says and I lightly laugh.
"I know, I know," I say. "So what you been up to?" I ask.
"Nothing really- oh did you know Shawn, Sammy, Aaron and Taylor are coming back," he says.
Shit did he say Shawn. "Really?! When?" I ask casually.
"A few days. Their talking about staying for good," he says. Shit shit shit.
I talk with Cam for another few minutes, then head back into Jack's room. He is sitting up, just now sliding a shirt on. "Morning babe," he says and looks up at me.
I wore an oversized flannel and just my underwear to bed. "What's wrong?" He asks and stands up, walking toward me.
I guess he noticed the glum look on my face. I quickly put on a smile, "the boys are coming back to La," I say trying to sound happy. I should be, for all of them. They have been like brothers to me, but Shawn. He's all I can think about.
I remember when school got started back up the summer after me and Jack were dating, I liked him. I mean I love Jack but Shawn was so... easy.
We had a good friendship going on until he moved to Canada. Yes, Canada. I think he had family up there.
I suppose he's 19 now though.
"That's great! All of them?" Jack says pulling me out of my thoughts. I smile, "except Matt and Carter," I say.
"But it's possible they could come later on," I say. He pulls me in by my hips and presses his forehead on mine, "lets go get some breakfast," he says then kisses my nose.
A Few Days Later
Cam had Johnson, Jack, and me come over to his and Nash's house. The boys will be arriving soon. They are renting a few cars and coming here.
We sit at the table and have small talk while I text Aaron.
"Where you at?" I ask and see it's almost 10pm.
He replies in a few minutes, "open the door," he says and I get up and run to the door.
I first see Sammy and I wrap my arms around his neck as I hear the others approach. I hug them all and the last one in is Shawn.
He stands in the doorway as I hug him awkwardly. Before we release he says, "looking good as always," he says.
I smile at him, and watch as he walks off. God damn, he has... changed.
He is about 4 inches taller, his hair is better cut, and his muscles are literally popping out of his short sleeve tee shirt.
He laughs as he hugs the other boys and we all sit at the couch to catch up. I sit next to Jack and he squeezes my leg and leans over.
"We are going to tell them about our plan right?" He asks. I nod and he clears his throat.
Everyone looks at him, "as some of you may know, Sam and I are planning on getting a place together. If you didn't know, well now you do."
