"And the winner by total gross-out is Kurama!" Koto announced it into the microphone. "Now point to Team Urameshi!"
"We did it!" Kuwabara shouted happily. "In your face!"
"You made a nice flower around there Kurama!" Yusuke chimed in right after before he and Ruby jumped onto the ring and rushed toward their redheaded friend's side.
However, the only one that sensed something different in this victory was the couple who had been looking at Team Toguro's remaining members.
"You see that too, don't you?" Miyuki asked not looking at her partner, but she did sense him agreeing with her.
"They don't look like a team that lost a match." Hiei voiced out their thoughts. "What do they know that we don't?"
In the ring Ruby got there first to the Fox-Demon.
"Kurama!" She called out with a bright smile on his face. Her voice made the redhead turn around and look at the girl with a soft expression.
"Hi Ruby." He greeted her with a weak smile. However, that soon turned into a tiny frown when he noticed her bloodshot eyes and the stains that the dry tears left on her cheeks.
"How are ya feeling there champ?" Yusuke asked right after he got there.
"Fine." Kurama answered before his expression twisted into a pained look and then fell down to his knees with a groan.
"Kurama!" The water-bender girl cried out in worry as she crouched down next to him and held him by the shoulder and back. The Urameshi boy did the same on Kurama's left side. "You need to be careful, your wounds are will open."
"I'm sorry guys." Kurama's sudden apology earned confused glances from his teammates.
"Why?" The team leader asked.
"If I couldn've lifted myself a fraction of a second sooner-. . ." The redhead started to explain.
"Who cares?" Yusuke asked him. "You won."
"It's unwise to be so confident before an official announcement." Kurama pointed out with sad eyes while he lowered his head in shame.
"And the official announcement says, the winner of the first match in Karasu!" Juri's announcement made everyone's soul leave their bodies by the shock that just struck through them.
"What?!?" Yusuke particularly screamed while everyone was paralyzed. Even Hiei was taken off guard along with his partner.
"That's not fair!" Kuwabara exclaimed after he snapped out of the shocked state. "These judges had it in for us since the first day!" His team leader then approached the referee with fury in his eyes.
"Hey! You with the big fish ears, I have a bone to pick with you!" He growled while his hand grasped onto the female demon's shoulder, rather aggressively which could leave a bruise for the next week or so. "How does a dead guy win?"
