in which nia actually opens up ( for the first time in forever )

ONCE THEY HAD CALMED DOWN SLIGHTLY and gotten everything in order again, Nia spoke, "We should send an Iris-message to someone and tell them what Luke is up to. Someone we trust."

Annabeth smirked slightly. "Like who?"

It didn't even need to be discussed — Chiron.

The wind from the thermos stirred up a nice sea spray that made a rainbow in the sunlight — perfect for an Iris-message. Annabeth threw a gold drachma into the mist and prayed for the rainbow goddess to show them Chiron, his face appeared all right, but there was some kind of weird strobe light flashing in the background and rock music blaring.

Nia blinked. She didn't think Chiron had the whole. . . nightclub vibe in him, but she was impressed.

They told him about sneaking away from camp, and Luke and the Princess Andromeda and the golden box for Kronos's disgusting remains, but with all the noise on both ends, how much Chiron heard was up in the air.

"Percy," yelled Chiron, "you have to watch out for—" His voice was drowned out by loud shouting behind him — a bunch of voices whooping and hollering.

"What?" Percy yelled back at him.

Chiron ducked as a plate flew over his head and shattered somewhere out of sight. "Curse my relatives! Annabeth, Nia, you shouldn't have let Percy leave camp!"

"Chiron, we had no choice!" Nia said back, defending her and her friend.

"Sadly, I feared so! But if you do get the Fleece—"

"Yeah, baby!" somebody behind Chiron yelled. "Woo-hooooo!"

The music got cranked up, so loud it made their lifeboat vibrate.

"—Miami," Chiron was yelling. "I'll try to keep watch—"

The misty screen smashed apart like someone on the other side had thrown a bottle at it, and Chiron disappeared.

"Do we have any other golden drachmas?" Percy asked after a moment. "We should call Naomi, let her know that we're alright."

Nia dug through her hunting bag and threw another drachma into the mist, calling out Naomi's name and location.
