~October 1975~
Apart from a minor wedding dress meltdown, things were actually going pretty smoothly regarding planning the wedding. Orders were going through for cakes, flowers, and venue reservations. I felt like I was becoming more and more stressed than Kathleen was, which would've been a good thing if I actually found a way to get rid of the stress and not just let it pile up inside.
The day had finally come for me to meet Harry. I was quite shocked how far along we had gotten in planning this thin and we still hadn't met. Usually, every time we were scheduled to meet up for lunch together with Kathleen, I would be sprung with a new meeting that I had to hurry to. Or, since he was a real estate agent, Harry would get a call saying that the original possible clients that didn't want a tour of the new flat did want a tour in the end. Most of the time, Kathleen would take notes from everything I was telling her, and she would pass the messages onto him.
But today was the day. For some reason, I was slightly nervous. I guess the build-up and anticipation of meeting each other for the first time made my nerves a little jittery. From everything I've heard about him, he seems to be the man of Kathleen's dreams. Funny thing was that she said that about her past two ex-boyfriends as well.
I headed up to her apartment, bringing a bottle of chardonnay with me for dinner. Knocking on the door, I heard some scuffling around from behind the door. Someone from behind the door was snipping at the other person to head back towards the kitchen to check on the food. Opening the door, I saw Kathleen peer her head from around the corner, smiling nervously as she combed her hair down.
"Hey Elizabeth!" she said.
"Were you just...?"
Kathleen grabbed my arm and yanked me inside. "That doesn't really matter now. Well, Kathleen... meet Harry!"
Harry walked out from the kitchen area, sporting a completely untied apron around his neck. I had already seen what he looked like. As soon as I got home from the farm, I noticed that Kathleen had put up hundreds of new pictures of the two of them. "Kathleen, it's so nice to meet you!" he said, extending his hand towards mine.
"It's wonderful to meet you too Harry! I've heard such amazing things about you!"
"Likewise." One of the disappointing things about already hearing all about each other already was that we didn't have anything to introduce about ourselves to each other.
"Here, let me take that," Kathleen said, grabbing the bottle of wine from my hands.
"So, I hear you work for a big music management company. That must be interesting!"
Taking my seat at the bar area, I continued, "It definitely is. I'm currently working primarily with the band Queen. We're beginning to plan out their next tour, which will probably be international!"
