As the two approached the circle, they both made their way to the only vacant log, and they both sat down. Parker stared actively at the embers in awe. She was so grateful that someone had known how to start a fire so they could see and prepare food. The fire blazed on in the darkness; the glow almost enough to give the girls a feeling of physical warmth, as well as an internal warmth. Leah titled her head to look at the reflection of the fire in the girl's blue eyes, a small smile made its way onto her face.
Nora and Fatin were delving through the contents of the bag that Parker learned was indeed not her own, but Fatin's. The musician was disappointed that she would have to face the wrath of her father for losing his suitcase, but Parker was simply grateful to have some extra clothes and materials available to the group.
All the girls suddenly turned to Rachel, who was working out on the outskirts of the campfire circle: "I'm swimming out to the wreck tomorrow, to see if I can find anything,"
"Count me in!" Leah uttered to the group. The girl on her right knew that she still would like to spend more time with Leah, even if it required free diving in the ocean.
"Yeah, I'll come to," voiced Parker. The tiny trio of volunteers all looked amongst each other simultaneously, attempting to predict what the coming day would look like.
Fatin however was in disbelief: it was beyond out of character for Parker to actively volunteer forphysical activity. She added, "No offense, but I think being from Michigan makes you one of the least qualified candidates to go free diving,"
Parker chuckled, "I mean I am from the mid-west, but my cousins and I used to free dive a few dozen feet to look for shipwrecks and things at the bottom of Lake Michigan. Only difference between here and there is the salt water."
"Well then it's settled, well leave in the morning," Rachel concluded. The entire group was hopeful that they would be able to find something, even it was another waterlogged bag or more cokes. A gust of wind started to pick up, and Fatin noticed many of the girls were shivering.
"Oh right, sorry. Here you all," Fatin noted as she passed out a few random clothing items. Martha ended up with a red leather jacket, Toni with a green pullover, Leah with a grey camisole, and Parker with a sparkly black and pink shirt that she had yet to read the wording on.
Dot pulled on a graphic tee that read 'More Issues Than Vogue' and the entire group burst out laughing, "Its official I've hit rock bottom." With that Parker was sent into an uncontrollable fit of laughter, which only stopped when she realized the writing on her own T-shirt.
"Oh hell no," Parker said when she realized that her shirt read 'looking like a snack'. Fatin and Leah in particular cracked up as the girl frowned in disbelief while attempting to trade with anyone else in the group.
"Sorry my friend but the T-shirt never lies," Fatin said while Leah nodded, which caused Parker's cheeks to burn a crimson red. A comfortable silence washed over the group, as many were thankful that they had people surrounding them in a terrible situation like they were in, and others thankful for the fire.
Shelby interrupted the tranquil moment to suggest an icebreaker, and Leah glared at Shelby: she was interrupting her moment of looking at the beautiful blonde girl sitting beside her. However Leah started to smile when the tiny bottles of alcohol were passed around the circle and they began to play never have I ever.
Shelby began the game with "Never have I ever had vaginal penetrative intercourse," and all of the girls except Shelby, Martha, and Parker took a shot. Fatin however looked in disbelief about the fact that Leah had, and that Parker had not: it certainly wasn't what she had expected.
Many other questions caused the girls to laugh and learn more about each other, such as Toni threw piss at a girl, Nora kissed a boy at camp, and dot has sold drugs. However the most interesting question was Rachel's final question, "Never have I ever liked a girl,"
The conversations and laughter became silent after this question. Nobody was sure how anyone else would react, especially because there were a couple of girls from the south. After a moment of silence, Toni raised the bottle to her lips and said, "with pride"
This caused Nora and Parker to raise their bottles quickly, Fatin yelling "I knew It! I could tell by the cuffs on your jeans, dead giveaway my friend." Parkers cheeks heated up more than they had earlier.
Bisexual
It was a word Parker was all too familiar with: liking boys and girls. After the numerous alcohol shots, she began to woozily look towards the fire again, reminiscing the girl that caused her revelation in the 6th grade.
She watched from the crowd as the Ballerina pranced around center stage. Her beautiful brown locks done up into a perfectly neat bun atop her head, her beautifully straight legs leaping and turning about. Hannah Miller. The girl a year older than her preformed at the school talent show, and needless to say young Parker Hendricks was mesmerized. She had no idea why, but the entire show, her eye was drawn to the slim brunette girl. It was almost a hyper fixation: Parker needed to see her on the stage, and scoured the floor if she wasn't actively on. After the school's performance of the Nutcracker, young Parker decided taht she needed to go meet the beautiful dancer, she just couldn't help it, she was drawn to her.
"Hi! My name Is Parker and im in the grade below you. I just wanted to congratulate you on your preformance and let you know you did a wonderful job," the girl gushed.
"You're too sweet thank you! I know who you are Parker, I see your exhibits in the hallway. Your work is fantastic. Artist's word,"
Parker was stunned, the girl she was fascinated by actually knew her by name. Her mind whirled a mile a minuite, and she just couldn't get Hannah off of her mind, especially now that she as standing right infant of her speaking to her. What shocked the girl even further was when Hannah pulled the girl in for. small hug and suggested that they should get to know each other better. Of course Parker agreed, and they exchanged phone numbers while planning when they would meet up.
Parkers tipsy daydream was interrupted when Leah lightly shook her shoulder. She was attempting to wake the dozed off girl, and bring her over to where the rest of the girls prepared to sleep, "Hey we should make our way over there, you look like you could use some sleep. Too much alcohol?" Leah mused towards the slightly intoxicated girl, only receiving a hum of agreement, "First time drinking there Park?"
"Yup," The girl mused while being guided in the right direction towards the other girls.
"Alright then Parker, lets get you to sleep so we can go out to the wreck tomorrow and not feel like shit," Leah advised the girl, placing her down at the spot closest to her own. Parker laid on her back gazing at the stars, and Leah admired the pure joy in her face. She joined the girl laying down, preparing to fall asleep when Parker rolled over and smiled back at her.
"I hope you sleep well, goodnight Leah," The girl said cutely while dozing off, which caused Leah to have a blush of her own.
"Goodnight Parker," Leah responded as she began to fall asleep as well.
