Two weeks until graduation
I've been trying to revise for my final exam for the last like two hours, but my mind is preoccupied. I just can't focus on this stupid science work because my mind is racing, trying to mentally prepare myself for Wednesday.
It's currently about 9am on Friday 26th September, and Remus and I's assessment is on the 1st. I can't concentrate on Newton's Law when it's so soon.
I'm distracted from my work by a knock on the door of my bedroom.
"Yeah?" I call, swinging my legs around on the chair to face the door.
I was expecting it to be my mother, because she's the only person in this household who knocks on my door before entering, but turns out it's not her. It's my dad.
"Afternoon." He says, walking in and slowly sitting down on my bed.
I raise my eyebrows at him, and he acknowledges this. "What? Can a father not want to spend time with his son?"
I take this as a sign to put my pen down and completely turn around on my chair. "Not r-really. Do y-you need something?"
He looks up at the ceiling and then to the door which is still partially ajar."Your mother thinks I was a bit harsh on you when I yelled at you a few weeks ago." He looks back to the door and continues. "She says that you're under a lot of pressure right now and you didn't deserve it."
At this point, I get up from my desk and pull my door open, seeing my mother standing in the hallway, clearly there to promt my father's words. "You m-might as well come in." I tell her, opening the door the whole way and going back to sit at my desk.
"So?" I ask as they now both sit on my bed.
My mom looks nervously to her husband beside her. "We just want to make sure you have a nice time at home, you know, while.."
"While what?" I ask her, knowing the answer.
My Father clears his throat. "While you're still here, we suppose."
What the fuck is that supposed to mean?
"Oh my gosh, you have no faith in me, do you?"
Mother sighs and rubs her hands together, then looks up at me. "We always knew you were different, Virgil. We just- You're our son and last time you went away we hardly got the chance to say goodbye. We just want you to leave on good terms with us."
They really are 100% sure I'm gonna go back to a hospital, aren't they?
"That's g-great, so does that mean I'm ungrounded?"
Father clears his throat. "No, I don't think that'd be appropriate. You are still in trouble, we are just letting you know that you're still our son and we love you no matter what happens."This is bullshit. "I think y-you have a pretty clear idea of what you think its going to h-happen. I th-think you're lying t-to me and I also think this conversation is over."
After gesturing for them to leave the room, I spin back around so that I'm sitting on my chair properly and continue to pretend to be revising while I wait for them to exit.Just before the door closes, I hear a snippet of their hushed coversation in the hallway. "He's a teenager, don't worry. He'll come around."
When I hear that the door has completely shut and their footsteps are back downstairs, I stand up from my desk and flop backwards onto my bed, letting my hoodie fall off my shoulders slightly as I exhale.
