Travelling

It's been two days since then. Neither Vijay nor Divya made any approach to talk more. Divya was reluctant. If she texted him first, will he think that she is too pushy? Maybe. Maybe not.

Those two days, Divya enjoyed to her fullest, with a lingering unease that slowly grew everyday. Did he not want to talk or catch up to her? Why did he approach her first? Was she expecting too much? Was she overthinking? These thoughts wandered around making her space out a few times.

Neha was mildly aware of her friend's behavior but she chose to ignore it. She saw her chatting with a guy in the cafe two days ago, but didn't question it. She didn't care. But if that would affect Divya too much, she'll confront her with this.

For the first eventful and exhausting day of the trip, they visited GALLERIA DELL'ACCADEMIA, CHIESA AND SCUOLA GRANDE DI SAN ROCCO and BASILICA DI SAN MARCO. They wanted to have a gondola ride in CANAL GRANDE and have a walk through PONTE DEI SOSPIRI (which was a must visit in Venice), but didn't have the time, or schedule.

From then, they were on their way to the capital of France, Paris, the city of love. Divya was engrossed in the best seller book in her hands when the announcement for the arrival of Paris rang through the aircraft.

It was soon that she and her classmates checked out and collected their luggage. On the way to the Hotel, she checked her phone again. She had a message, more like a photo from someone she definitely was not dying to contact.

Downloading the picture Vijay sent her, she sat up abruptly looking at the main entrance of the place she was dying to visit in France. She typed furiously, trying to contain her excitement.

"You are at the National Library of France?! "

It was sent but took a couple of hours to have the reply back.

"I was, yes"

Vijay was smirking to himself as soon as he replied to her text. If Divya was the same over- excited goofball, she would be squealing and cursing --Well maybe not cursing him-- right now.

"What are you doing there smiling like an idiot?" Harsh pointed out. He was the one who planned the trip and is financing it. Well most of it.

As soon as he heard this, Vijay's smile vanished as if it was never there. Slowly keeping his phone at the bedside table, he got up from his bed and stretched. The bed was very comfy, which was making him drowsy. Heh. Rich people.

Without uttering a single word, he grabbed his earpods and phone and slipped outside the room to spend some time on the balcony.

"I'll be back soon." Ignoring his friend's questions he made his way to the elevator.

"Viii!!!"

Maybe the room was a much safer option. Because standing at the front was Surbhi, Harsh's girlfriend's best friend. And she was way too persistent about him.

"Good night Surbhi" Without even sparing her a glance, he made his way back to his room that he shared with Harsh, leaving Surbhi dumbfounded.

"That was fast."

Why can't he just...not comment! Gritting his teeth, Vijay mumbled a few curses and plopped down in his bed.

"Why is she here?!" Vijay's voice was muffled in the bed, but Harsh understood him.

"Who?"

"Surbhi!"

"Oh! Maybe...She didn't want to make you feel like a third wheel. And besides, she is Maggi's best friend. Do you want me to face the wrath of my girlfriend? No thanks dude."

Vijay passed a glare full of anger and betrayal and then returned to his original position.

"I could care less about being a third wheel. Hell I would travel alone if I could! Anyone could have just informed me about her! I would have gladly cancell-" But he stopped himself. Maybe he wouldn't have cancelled, but have come prepared.

"What are you even complaining about?! Surbhi is one of the most sought after girls from our college Vijay! You know that she wanted to hook up with you! And it's not like you haven't dated a girl for just the sake of it!"

Vijay didn't answer. He knew Harsh was right. But Surbhi was too much for him. And he never found her appealing. She acted like she was mature and all, but she wasn't. And she didn't know how to accept rejection. Yes she was beautiful and had a makeover of what's trendy. But he knew he wouldn't be able to handle her.

"Give her a chance. If she asks you on a date, accept. If you don't feel anything, I'll make sure that Maggie explains her well. Is that fine?" Harsh waited for a response.

Vijay played around with the idea, finally accepting.

The next morning the four of them were ready for their final day trip. Paris was the final destination. The only thing left was the Eiffel tower and the Louvre Museum. The other two friends, Neil and Veer, the twin brothers were out and about. They texted the others that they were out to look for more places to visit at night.

Harsh and Maggie were hand in hand staying as close to each other, being all warm and mushy. Vijay looked away, clearly uncomfortable with the extra affection and the expectant gaze of the young woman who was staring at him with hearts in her eyes.

"Say Vijay"

Vijay cleared his throat and looked on ahead, not meeting her eyes.

"Yeah?"

"You know Paris is called the City of Love!" Her voice became high pitched when she swooned over what she said.

"So?"

"Would you like to go on a teensy little date with me? I promise it will be what you wanted!" She clasped his hand and entered his personal space.

The muscles on his face twitched a little, his brain screaming to back off but he remembered the conversation he had with Harsh yesterday, so he gave up and sighed. Gently taking off his hands from her manicured nimble ones, and stuffing them inside his jeans pocket, he moved forward.

"Fine." His voice was hoarse. As if he really didn't want to but can't deny that either.

"YESS!!!!!" As soon as she screamed, she latched herself to his left arm, now all four of them, heading to their destination.

"I would love to strangle the person who planned this trip!" Divya was twisting her towel so roughly that if it would have been alive, it would have surely died by her hands.

"We can't do anything about it girl." Neha was trying to calm the raging girl, who looked like a psycho on the loose.

"What kind of educational trip dOESN'T PLAN TO GO TO THE NATIONAL LIBRARY OF FRANCE?!!" Neha grabbed the fuming girl by the waist and held her down.

"Calm down. Calm down." She whispered soothingly to calm the girl, which seemed to be working. As soon as Divya calmed down, Neha released her, heaving a relieved sigh.

"HMPHF!" Divya stomped her foot on the ground then sat down on the dressing table pouting like a child. She roughly clipped on her bangs and tied her short hair in a messy ponytail. After applying sunscreen not so gently on her face, she grabbed her pouch and stormed off.

"Eiffel tower, my foot!!" Neha chuckled amusingly, watching her friend leave mumbling angrily about the place they were headed next.
