In the year 820, towns and villages suffered the ravenous onslaught of the many hordes of demon kind. These beings of darkness and fire, found joy and pleasure in destroying humanity's peace and sanctuary.
Their sharp claws and teeth, ripped into human flesh in order to steal the humans souls from their bodies. For some all these demonic creatures desired, was the taste of a human. And devouring their soul was the greatest source of energy they could find. To steal a human soul, extended the demon's lives by many hundreds of years.
For years humanity cowered in fear of these vicious creatures. Until one day humanity was spared, in the glow of white breathtaking light.
This godly savior from the heavens, challenged the lord of hell himself to a battle. If this angelic savior were to be victorious, then the lord of hell, the devil others referred to him as. He himself would shut and seal the gates of hell. Keeping his demon hordes, locked within their fiery prison where they belonged.
The devil agreed to this being of the light, not knowing what his true godly powers were. However he only agreed, once an agreement was made between the two lords of both darkness and light. The devils flamed hand shook with the godly angels glowing soft one.
Their battle soon began, and raged on for nearly a century.
However in the end, the glowing godly being soon stood triumphant over the lord of hell himself.
Snarling at the being of light, the devil did as they agreed upon.
He ordered every demon to return back through the black iron gates, returning them to hell's fiery depths. However he smirked, since in the end the being of light, still had to allow the agreement they shook upon.
The devil himself joined his demons, before the iron gates of hell closed behind him. Keeping them prisoners in the depth of darkness and fire where they belonged.
However, to this very day the upon agreement still stands.
That for one day, every fifty years. The gates of hell would be opened.
