Victor was the second child born to Kannis and Hevlana Tetran in the year 7802 in Gattrandal, Intriga. Younger by 6 years to his big sister Danielle, Victor was born into the prominent military clan of Tetran, which throughout Intriga's history was known for producing powerful battle mages in the military. The clan of Tetran was governed by an elder who set the rules for the family.
Victor's grandfather, Dolamus, who currently holds that position, focuses military prowess, education and clan loyalty in the lower class family members.
Kannis and Donzen, Victor's father and uncle, both held medium to high officer positions in the Armored Air Corps in the Intrigan Military, while his mother Hevlana held an officer position as a Guardsman earlier in her life.
Hevlana, while a tough Havishwoman from the Santhian Desert, suffers from several hereditary diseases that hindered her ability to stay in the military.
Victor's early life was rather uneventful, following his big sister and dad around (when he wasn't away on duty), learning simple hand to hand combat, while following his mother and the Hin servants around in the fields and gardens, learning simple magic, mainly involving plants. Despite Volamus' restrictive hold on the family and his father being away, Victor and Danielle grew up relatively happy, until the year 7810.
Victor was 8 years old when his father was killed in action. Kannis
Tetran was killed by a sniper during the Aquan Island campaigns in the Western oceans against the Reltanian Empire. The news of Kannis' death came as a heartbreaking shock to the family. Hevlana was inconsolable, while Dolamus was enraged with grief. Danielle became distant, preferring to grieve by herself while Victor was left alone to deal with the pain.In the months that followed, Victor and Danielle were taken under their grandfather's wing to be personally trained in the art of magical combat. It was here that Victor would see firsthand how cruel of a man Dolamus was. He would not allow the two to see their still grieving mother. He was impatient and quick to anger with young Victor, who was attempting magical and physical exercises that were far too advanced for him. He would frequently beat the two with rods should they make mistakes, but since Danielle was older and more of a natural in her training, most of the abuse was focused towards young Victor.
At one point, though, the anger of watching her brother get tortured and berated hit the breaking point for Danielle. During one particularly nasty beating, Dolamus screamed that Victor was unfit to breath and was a stain to his father's legacy. Danielle saw red and lunged at their grandfather, momentarily catching him off guard. When Dolamus shoved her off and restrained her, Victor was shocked to see the change that had taken place in his sister. Her crimson hair had darkened, her eyes glowed an unnatural violet, her ears had become pointed as a Hin, and her teeth had become sharp as a carnivore. Dolamus quickly incapacitated her, but did not punish Danielle or Victor for her attack. Instead, he had Victor sent away with a satisfied grin on his face. He had awakened another descendent of Vomun, and the powerful Berserker Blood of the ancient warrior Hin.
Victor was separated from his sister, as his grandfather wanted to personally train her to be a warrior in the upper district of the clan lands. Victor was sent to work in the fields with the lower class of the family and servants. It was there that Victor's anger towards his sadistic grandfather drove him to practice marksmanship, hand to hand combat and different forms of magic. Through rigorous practice, Victor excelled at plant manipulation and teleportation and he frequently experimented combinations of magic and physical prowess as he guarded his clan's crops from wandering pests and thieves.
When he wasn't training or working, Victor would care for his ailing mother, whose health conditions had worsened since her husband's death and her separation from her daughter. Although she was a sorrowful woman who yearned for her old life back south in the desert, she still loved her son and stayed strong for him. Their present living conditions had been lowered since Kannis' death, thanks to Dolamus, and the hatred that Victor harbored for his grandfather drove him forward.
