I actually did it. Finally! It's over! No more high school! I can't believe it. Well I know I'm only going to Peninsula College but it's still some form of further education. I know how bad both my parents feel for not being able to afford to send me to the college I have my heart set on but at the end of the day I get to stay close to home and help out the family. I was scared I'd look a mess compared to everyone else but apparently I looked perfect.
Once we'd all thrown our caps the ceremony was over and I can do whatever the hell I want because I'm no longer a high school student. I go over to my parents when are waiting with a camera like they always do, when my mom was 17 she was told that she couldn't have children however a year later she met my dad and then another year later I came along, I was her miracle baby. I walk over linking arms with my bestest friend in the whole world and to be honest the only reason I've actually managed to finish High School, Jonah or JR.
"Ok my darling daughter and the son I never had but is basically my child. Squeeze in I want a picture of the two of you before we leave y'all to get your party on!" My mom says while waving her arms up in the air in the most embarassing way ever. I face palm myself while my dad and JR just laugh at my embarasment. JR and I cuddle into each other for a graduation photo and I just think to myself how happy I am with my life right now. I don't want anything to change.
After we take the photo we both say goodbye and see you later to my parents as they need to get back home to my siblings who are with my Grandma as I could only get 2 seats.
JR turns to face me and says "Hey hun, I'm just gonna say bye to my parents first then we can head over to the party, k?" I nod in response. He gives me a quick hug and a kiss on my head like always and wonders off to his parents. I start to turn around and head towards the back of the stage which is just infront of the school doors which the lead into the main hall where you can return your caps and gounds. We don't have to return them today but my parents have left now and it doesn't really matter to me to keep it on for the day so I'm giving mine back today.
I start to walk past the stage and feel myself pulled into somones arms. At first I feel shocked and don't know how to react till I meet his eyes.
"What are you doing? You know we don't do public" I say to him.
"Sorry Princess I had to see you before we have to go most of the night ignorning each other" he replies whilst rolling his eyes. "Look everyones gonna be leaving town in a few weeks including you so don't start with me about shit" I say trying not to let a tear drop considering hes going to be leaving me in a matter of weeks. "Hey, hey, hey don't think like that I'm only gonna be gone for a couple months to do some basic training in seattle so I can help my Dad out with the company then I'll be right back here by your side to do this" he says while kissing my on show neck on the left "and this" then procceds to the right "and finally this" as he kisses my lips. "Okay, Okay Harlan. I get it. I am gonna miss you coming over though" I say in defeat. "I know baby Clem keeps saying how you can still totally go over and have a playdate while I'm gone plus you know my parents love you like you're their own". I laugh at him as he tries to put on the cutest little impression of his 9 year old sister. "I'll see ok" I smile and giggle at him.
"Oh Wils before I forget. I got you this so that while I'm away y'all always have my heart with you." Harlan pulls out the cutest gold necklace in a little black box and knowing him it costa a fortune.
"Harl...It's gorgous but I can't. It looks way too expensi...." before I could finish my sentance he was already taking it out of the box to put arround my neck. "Willow Maria Gillian, enough! Now shut up and take it!" he orders me as he closes the clasp. "Well it's already attached now, isn't it?" I look at him as he just grins right back at me like an innocent little child. "I love you Harlan Marcus Spencer" I pull closer into him. "And I you Miss Gillian".
Harlan and I say our goodbyes and I continue my walk towards the school hall, however I am stopped by my art teacher, well former art teacher Mrs Deluca.
"Sorry to stop you Willow but I would really like you to meet an old friend of mine, well my family's" she says as she turns to an older gentleman in a smart suit with a walking cain. "This Miss Gillian is Mr H or as you may of herd of him, Mr Henderson..." I sharply yet exitedly inturupt her. "The Mr Henderson as in CEO and owner of one of if not the biggest advirtising companies in the whole of the USA?" I stand their waiting for an answer. The gentleman chucks lightly however holds his hand out for me to shake whilst saying "Yes Miss Willow I am Ray Henderson, owner of 'Made For You'." I gladly shake his hand with the biggest smile on my face possible right now. He continues to speak "Opehilia my goddaughter here, oh sorry dear, Mrs Deluca was telling me how you had done a exceptional project as your final piece advirtising a smoothie you created?" I smile in the knowledge of my project thinking about the smoothie it's based around which is an old family recipe that my grandma gave me permission to use. "Yes Sir, it's an old Sánchez family recepie so I knew it would be authentic." He replied to me "Well I've had a look at the project myself and would like to have a discussion with you and your parents about potentially coming to work for me in New Your City as a pain intern as well as doing a part time college degree so you're able to progress to a higher position in time."
I smile and have notjing and no one in my brain right now other than myself for the first time in my life and think back to what my Grandma Sánchez or Sana always tells me is to do what's right for me and whats going to give me the best chance when it comes to starting my own life so I say....
"Yes!"
