I hear my phone ringing so I groggily sit up and look at the clock, seeing that it is one in the morning. I glance at the contact and see that it is Sarah so I pick it up.

"You are aware it is one on the morning?" I ask as I answer.

"I fucked up babe," she says so I sit up, wiping the sleep out of my eyes.

"What did you do?" I ask.

"Long story short, I need a boyfriend."

"You don't like boys—" I point out,"and what about me? Your girlfriend?"

"David heard rumors about us so I lied and said I was seeing a boy to throw him off my trail. But now he doesn't believe the fake boyfriend is real."

"Hear me out, maybe it's because the fake boyfriend isn't real," I say.

"Babe," she whines,"I really need your help here. I need one of Rowan's friends or something."

"Well Jake went with Rowan to Wyoming and Kaida's baby daddy is in Germany. I can ask Ben in the morning though."

"Thank you thank you thank you!" she says.

"Yeah yeah, now get some sleep before your siblings find out who you're calling."

"I love you babe," she says causing me to smile.

"I love you too," I say before hanging up.

I set a reminder on my phone to call Ben in the morning before falling back asleep.

I wake up before my alarm goes off, to the sound of Kaida puking, again.

I sigh and get up, walking into the bathroom with a hair tie and a wash cloth, pulling her hair out of her face.

"I thought this was supposed to end soon," I say getting a glare from Kaida.

"I think the O'Donoghue's have poison in their seed," she says.

"Disgusting. I do not want to think about your baby daddy's juices thank you very much."

"I know," she mutters, leaning her head against the bathroom wall, taking the towel from me and wiping her face.

"Have you talked to him at all?" I ask, even though I'm pretty sure I know the answer. My sister was always Miss Independent and being pregnant seemed to only be making it worse.

"Not since he before he finished basic training," she says sighing,"we got in a fight because he could tell I'm hiding something but I wouldn't tell him. He hasn't called since, just an email letting me know he got deployed to Germany."

"You're still sure about not telling him?" I ask.

She glances down at her growing bump, which despite only being 4 months along was getting hard to hide because of how skinny she was before.

"Of course I want to tell him," she says,"he's my best friend I want him here for this. But he signed a 4 year contract and still has over 3 and a half years to go. Even if I wanted him here he can't."

     "What about after?"

"I guess we'll see. Baby will be 3. Our brother would kill me, but my options are to tell my baby daddy then or break it off forever."

"You're really willing to let him go forever?"

"I guess I've got 3 years to figure out," she says shrugging standing up,"I'm gonna go try to get some sleep before work, don't worry about me Bell, I'll figure it out."

I nod and head back to my room to get myself ready for the day, before heading to school in my orange mini cooper I got for my birthday over the summer, after I finally got my drivers license.

I get to school and quickly find Sarah before we go to homeroom together. I text Ben, asking him to meet Sarah and I after school figuring this was something better discussed in person than over the phone.

"Hey Bella!" I hear a voice say. I stop what I'm saying to Sarah and glance over my shoulder to see Adam, one of the boys in our class standing there.

"Can I help you?" I ask politely.

"I was just wondering if you had a date to the dance yet."

My eyes go wide and I make eye contact with Sarah. She just shrugs, letting me decide what to do. Prom we didn't go to because I didn't want to out myself, but a smaller dance like homecoming would be less weird to go with Sarah without people questioning it.

"Oh," I say,"me and Sarah are actually going together."

I glance back over at Sarah and her eyes light up, I know she was excited to finally get to go to a dance together. I felt bad because we had to keep our relationship quiet to her family and from the school so we didn't often get to do normal couple things like that.

"But you don't have a date?" Adam presses.

"I don't need one, Sarah and I are going together."

"Well what if I get my buddy to take Sarah and we'll go in a group?"

He wasn't listening but I was too nice and didn't know what to say.

"She said no buddy," Sarah says,"now get to stepping."

I widen my eyes at my usually shy girlfriends outburst. Adam glares at her but still returns his attention to me.

"One of the hottest guys in the grade is asking you out and you're turning me down to go with a girl? What are you a dyke?" he asks, and I flinch. Sarah looks visibly upset.

"Leave me alone," I say, my voice shaky.

Before Adam can speak, a voice speaks up from my other side.

"Get lost Adam," Declan, another classmate says.

"Whatever," Adam mutters, giving up and walking away.

"Thank you," I sigh in relief to Declan.

"Don't worry," he says smiling, his bright white teeth contrasting his dark skin, "I don't want to assume, but I have heard the rumors. I got y 'all's back."
