The bright rays of the sun began to push through the balcony of the astronomy tower, slowly lightening up the inside of the hollowed out brick room as every second passed by.

Tom hadn't realised it, he was looking down at his charms book which was placed on the wooden floor, wand in his right hand making quick and precise movements to cast the precise movement of different spells he wanted to learn.

The wood of the floor had started to cause his legs to ache and his body shivered with a small cold from the open balcony view but he didn't care, he needed to get these spells right. The faster he killed his uncle the easier it would be to get a usual life, to live life knowing his mother was avenged.

Tom knew his uncle was one of the last Gaunt's living and for this reason he would not kill Tom. The line of Gaunt held a special place in the pureblood ranks, they had been handed the responsibility of making sure Slytherin always had an heir and Sovereign.

His uncle was too old to be having children now, leaving Tom the only place for the title to fall upon, if Gaunt killed Tom, the line of Slytherins would seize to exist and the last standing Gaunt will receive the punishment.

The male smirked.

He was going into a battle he knew only he would walk out of.

He heard footsteps up the spiral staircase.

He quickly folded his book and pushed it under one of the old desks tucked to the side.

"Thought i'd find you up here" a female spoke, a familiar smirk coming into view "could you not sleep knowing you almost killed me"

He watched the female stand by the stairs showing no emotion to her sudden arrival "Quite the opposite"

She let out a laugh and watched him in amusement, her arm resting on the banister "harsh riddle" she shifted her weight to her other foot "you must be wondering why i have come to find you"

"Not really" he turned from her and stood up, deciding it was time for him to now stretch his aching legs since he couldn't practice with her here anyways.

The male walked towards the balcony with no interests of speaking to the female as he gazed out into the open. The top of Hogwarts came into view as the cold air hit his face, out in the far end he could barely see the outline of the quidditch course, Dimitri was probably there.

The room grew quiet.

She sighed and finally spoke "I' didn't tell anyone of your little suicidal mission" he could hear her shift again.

"I know"

"How could you know" she scoffed, rolling her eyes.

"Because if you did I would have severed your tongue from that pretentious little mouth of yours" he turned to her and reciprocated her smirk "i suggest leaving me alone before i am forced to finish what i started last night"

There was a moment of silence as they both looked at each other, tom's unwavering gaze caught onto her own as her lips pulled up tighter.

"There is a party tonight in the Slytherin dorms, I thought i should tell you since you weren't here today morning when Edgar knott announced it"

He didn't answer but just watched her in amusement as she became visibly awkward under his quiet gaze.

"So i guess i'll be off then" she said with an awkward laugh, her eyes flickering around the room once more before she made her way down the spiral staircase.

He didn't like her.

Something seemed off about her, the way he had never seen her or even hardly seen her yet she seemed to know a great deal about him.
