"Welcome to detention kiddos, you know why you're here. You fucked up and now you have to deal with it. In all honesty, I don't give a shit what you do, as long as you don't bother me. I'm going to be grading papers in my classroom next door. Don't make me come back in here. You are free to leave when the late dismissal bell rings, but if I find out any of you left early you'll have hell to pay. Be good," the advisor states leaving the classroom. There is a moment of silence between the kids in here before they begin to chat amongst themselves.

I look around me, trying my best to assess the room, and I realize that I know no one, well no one besides Lewis. I decide to make the most of my time here and I grab out my homework folder from my bag that is sitting beside me. I work on my first paper and finish in a few minutes, but as I go to grab the folder off of the desk to begin a new assignment, it gets snatched away. I look up, about to confront whatever fiend decided to waste my time when I am greeted by none other than the...maybe...devil himself.

"Hey Ara, whatcha working on," He says, a small grin on his face.

"I was working on homework before someone decided to take my folder," I retort back at him.

"That's boring," he states, taking a seat backwards in the desk in front of me, "talk to me instead."

"Now why would I do that?" I question, shooting him a slight glare.

"Ouch, my heart. Just when I thought we were beginning to become friends," he says, with mock pain in his voice, a hand over his heart.

"A few non-hostile conversations does not mean we are becoming friends,"

"Lovers then," he says with a wink as I roll my eyes at him.

"Oh of course, how could I not fall for you with your good looks, charm, and sexy body?" I say sarcastically.

"Sexy?" he questions, amused.

"It's called sarcasm hun."

"Whatever helps you sleep at night sweetheart," he replies, his smirk still evident.

"Can I have my homework back?" I ask, done with our current conversation.

"Ok, ok," he says handing back my folder, "but if you don't mind I would actually like to get to know you better. I'm Lewis Waters."

He extends his hand towards me and I cautiously take it. "Arabella Case," I reply.

"Nice to officially meet you, Arabella, if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?"

"I'm seventeen, and you?"

"Eighteen. You're a junior right."

"Yeah, you're a senior."

"Right."

"Same class as my brother."

"Right..." he says, seemingly nervous about his answer.

"Yeah, because you two met a while back. You decided that it would be great to bully him," I say, glaring slightly.

"Ara..." he starts and I cut him off.

"Why the hell are you trying to become friends with me, Lewis? You have done nothing but make my life hell since you met me. You bully my brother, you blackmail him to get what you want, you purposely poke at every single little nerve you can, and you agitated me so much that I am stuck in detention because of you. My perfect record ruined because you refused to keep your mouth sh-"

"Arabella, I'm sorry," he interrupts, taking my hands into his, "I have messed up, I know I have, but please allow me to try and fix things."

I stare into his eyes, trying to decipher if he is being honest or not, before nodding my head.

"Thank you," he says and then he begins talking, telling me about his life and experiences, telling me about his family, leaving out no detail no matter how abhorrent the detail may be, and I share my experiences as well, talking about everything that I have been worrying about. Surprisingly, talking to him is a lot of help. He genuinely seems to care and he tries his best to give me advice that may help me.

The time flies by and soon enough, it is time for us to leave, we say our goodbyes and each make our way towards where we need to go.

I walk outside to the parking lot of the school, searching around to find Josh's car, since he had to stay late for a study session. I spot his car and make my way towards it before I see a sight I am appalled to see.

Low and behold, Camren and Josh, making out in the front seat, I pause in shock before looking away for a moment, looking back only when I hear a car door slam shut and see Camren sashaying away, a smirk on her face and her too short skirt riding up her thigh. I quickly walk to the car, getting into the back seat, not wanting to sit in the same seat SHE was just in.

Josh turns around halfway, his hand resting on the passenger seat as he shoots me a smile, "Hey sis, why aren't ya sitting up here."

"Don't even try that Josh," I say, sighing slightly.

"Try what?" He says, seeming genuinely confused. I shake my head in disbelief as a scowl comes across my face.

"I saw you with her. It hasn't even been two days and you are already making out with that whore in your car. You act as if you care, but then you do shit like this and now I don't know what to believe." I spit out, frustrated by my brother's actions.

"Arabella, that's no fair..." he says, looking at me with a sad expression.

"She was, hell still is, your sister's girlfriend, and here you are pretending like nothing happened, that Jordynn isn't lying in a hospital bed in critical condition, hell that Jordynn doesn't even exist," I state, tears forming in my eyes, "What did Jordynn do to deserve this?"

Josh opens his mouth to say something but then closes it, unable to form the words.

"That's what I thought," I say, opening the car door.

"Where are you going?" He questions.

"Anywhere but here," I reply, before stepping out and slamming the car door shut.
