I stand dumbfounded looking at the door. He locked me out. He actually locked me out. AGAIN. I bang on the door as hard as I can. Maybe a little too hard since I heard the door crack. "AXEL, KNOCK IT OFF!" My brother yells through his door.
Aon and I got in a fight again. He gets a little mad when I try to steal his food out of the fridge. He has this weird spidey sense when someone is touching his sushi. It usually starts with me teasing him with his food over the trash can, and one thing leads to another and we start a full on yelling brawl...sometimes it gets physical. I said something to him about his girlfriend being a "prissy princess". And he had the audacity to say that I "probably deserved the scar that I got" when he knows good and well the things I have been through to get this far. So now we're here.
I hear my sister walk up the stairs toward the exceeding banging as I continue to hit my fists against the door. "Axel, calm down, what are you doing.""Lexa, WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE!"
"Jesus Axel, don't kill your twin."
Me and my sister, Lexa, have been balancing each other out for as long as I can remember. When I get angry she calms me down, and when she can't fight her own battles because she's "too good for violence," I will fight them for her.
"Fine. I don't want to get in the middle ot thi-" Lexa says with irritation lacing her voice. "NO! NO YOU DON'T" I scream."DON'T INTERRUPT ME!" She yells with authority.
"Yes. Okay."
"As I was saying, take a break from the door, Axe, and go to our room."
"Fine."I look back at the somewhat mutilated door and whisper "I'm not done with you Aon." He doesn't answer but I know he heard me.
As we walk down the hallway Lexa turns her head in my direction. Her flawless white hair floating to one side.
She and I have weird characteristics. She has white hair with gold streaks lacing through it, while I have black hair with silver streaks. All natural. My father and brothers labelled us yin and yang because of our appearance. I kinda like the name, but I don't think Lexa likes it much.
She starts speaking but it sounds like a blur of noises as I stare into space. "Axel. AXEL!" I snap out of it and turn my head toward her. "You okay?"
"Yeah I'm good." I say, half lying.
"Liar. What's wrong?"
"Nothing, Aon just said something about my..." I motion with my hand toward my face.
" HE DID WHAT-" I grab her arm in an attempt to stop her from going back upstairs.
"Lexa it's fine, I handled it." I say, relieved I stopped her from going to finish off the door. She turns back to me with a "mhm" look on her face.
"Oh really, because it looked like you were handling the door instead of 'it.'" I lightly punched her arm and laughed.
"The door was old anyways. And if you hadn't come upstairs I would have finished it off."
We both laughed at that. If I actually did break the door, dad would have my head and so would Althaia, my dad's wife.
They've been married for a long time. Even when me and my sister were born. My biological mom isn't in the picture. I don't really know what went on between her and my father but I don't really care, either. Lexa does, though. I think it bothers her a little bit that someone gave us up, but for all we know she could've died. I never cared to ask, but when Lexa did, dad didn't answer. But Althaia is good to us and treats us like her own.
I wonder what the story is between my mother, my dad and Althaia. I'm not sure I really want to know.
"Kids, get down here, dinner's ready. Althaia made gyros,'' My dad calls up the stairs.
Me and Lexa look at each other. "Race ya!" We both say. We bound down the stairs almost knocking multiple pictures off the wall.
