Sage was surprised that Kyo didn't want to eat breakfast that morning.

She didn't press for any sort of reason, but she walked to school with Yuki as usual.

He stopped only when a bunch of boxes tumbled out of Sage's locker.

"I didn't realize you were so popular," Yuki said.

"I hate valentine's day" Sage muttered.

"You do?" He asked.

"It's the prime time for love confessions that I try to avoid," Sage said. Yuki chuckled and went to his own locker. There was only one bag.

Hanajima explained it as the Cuckoo Effect. As one girl attempts to be the center of attention, she'll throw out any previous chocolates placed to make hers the one that remains.

"Wow. People are nuts" Sage muttered.

She found more chocolates in her desk and she thought she'd be fine for the whole day but she made a mistake.

She was in the library to return a book she borrowed.

"Sage?" The blonde repressed a sigh and turned around to see an upper-classman she didn't know the name of.

"Do you need something from me?" She asked.

"Well, I like you, so I was wondering if you wanted to go out tomorrow?" He asked it quickly. Sage repressed the urge to roll her eyes.

"Sorry, I can't. I've got someone I really like already-"

"You can't keep telling people that, Sage!"

"Sorry?" Sage asked.

"You- you tell all the guys that every year. Every guy has confessed their feelings to you, so you're a liar!" He accused.

"That's not true," Sage said.

"It is. You're just too good for us, right!? Is that it!?" He asked. Sage hadn't ever had to deal with a reaction like this but she was beginning to panic. She didn't like being shouted at.

"Wait... please don't-"

He kept shouting and Sage didn't know what to do, her ears were ringing.

"Hey" the guy turned around. Sage couldn't see around him.

He didn't seem eager to mess with whoever just walked in, but he also didn't want to back down either.

"What do you want" as he stepped forward, Sage spotted Yuki and as the two made eye contact Yuki must have seen the fear that was radiating off from the blonde.

"Move away from her" Yuki said.

"Or what? Why should I even be listening to you?" Yuki glared sharply as he stepped closer before pushing past the guy. He took Sage's hand and intertwined their fingers as he pushed her behind him. It was as close as they could get without Yuki transforming.

"Wait are- are you two a thing?" The guy asked. Sage held her breath.

"And if we are?" Yuki asked. The guy, seemingly deterred, left.

"What were you thinking!? That's gonna spread like wildfire," Sage said.

"I'm sorry, I should have asked you first" Yuki agreed.

"Wait- you're not worried about that? Bothered by the prospect of people really thinking we're dating?" Sage asked.

"No... should I be?" He asked.

"Well- I don't know!" She admitted.

"Are you?" He asked.

"No..." she couldn't say that she was weirdly happy.
