· ✵"That's it? You're leaving."
"I guess so."
An impenetrable weight encumbered your chest upon registering the fact that Din Djarin would, once again, leave in order to continue his bounty hunting profession. The way the Mandalorian uttered those words lacking any sort of emotion, no feeling, no nothing—it caused for your dreadful trepidation to confirm itself.
Din no longer loved you.
Maybe he never did. Why he elected to stick around Rainoh for so long, you had no clue. But if he didn't feel the same adoration and fondness as you did for him, then what was the point in all this?
Why did he even bother?
Scoffing, you slowly approach the man clad in beskar until you were mere inches away from his dark visor. The distorted reflection of your expression was perfectly visible and your face clearly exhibited the heavy sentiment afflicting you. You were aggrieved, miserable, resentful, inflamed altogether and you evidently failed to hide what you desperately attempted to contain.
"Did I ever matter to you?"
Your eyes bore holes into his tinted visor. Words couldn't explain the pure rage you felt and struggled to maintain in check. Nevertheless, you weren't going to raise your voice at him. You were a princess and you couldn't lash out in a fit of anger. No, it was imperative for you to keep your calm. Urgently, you searched for his eyes (The eyes you would never have the chance to gaze into. The eyes you longed to see, so you could directly experience the love he supposedly held for you. The eyes you wished you could admire in secret as he admired you back). You searched, because you desperately needed to see what he truly felt.
Was he simply trying to act tough? Were his eyes brimmed with tears like yours were? Was he on the verge of breaking down like you are in this very moment?
It pained you to never have the answer to those questions.
"Yes," he whispered, softly, gently, lovingly. "You still do."
Yet you couldn't bring yourself to believe him.
It was a complete lie. Because if you still mattered to him, he wouldn't be doing this. He wouldn't be out bounty hunting every second of his life, rarely ever visiting you at the palace. You were sick and fed upwith him constantly deciding to undertake his occupation over you, tired of him leaving you entirely alone and feeling isolated, no matter how many people surrounded you in your life. You needed Din. Why couldn't he understand that? He was your comfort, your serenity, your love. Somehow, Din had enraptured your heart since day one and since then the two of you were inseparable. It wasn't always like this. He used to take advantage of literally any opportunity to return to Rainoh and see you.
