*five years later*

Willow's P.O.V

Years later, Pearl and I still kept in touch. It was never the same as before but it hadn't completely diminished either. On the other hand, Billie was sort of getting distant.

The conversations were usually short, and we would barely get to spend some time together.

She hung out with Quinn though, almost every day. Don't get me wrong, I loved that the both of them were getting along but it came at the cost of something I treasured.

"I'm meeting up with Quinn for lunch." Billie spoke, as she picked out a few of her rings and slid them onto her fingers.

I thought we could spend the afternoon together." I responded and Billie slightly frowned.

"Just today and we'll have the whole evening together." Billie smirked as she spoke, slowly walking towards me.

I put on a smile and nodded at her.

She bent down as she placed a kiss on the top of my head.

"Love you angel." She spoke.

"I love you too."

As soon as she stepped out and close the door behind her, the smile on my face fell and my eyebrows furrowed. This had been going on for a few months now and I never got to ask Billie what it was about. She wouldn't do something she shouldn't, right?

"Did she suspect anything?" Quinn asked as I sat down at the café table.

"I wouldn't be surprised if she did." I sighed as I spoke. I felt a tinge of guilt every time I left Willow to meet up with Quinn, but I had to do it.

"So does everyone else know about the bridge?" Quinn softly muttered, leaning forward and I nodded.

'Bridge' was a code word after Willow's surname, 'Bridges'.

"It'll be okay." She responded, taking my hand in hers and rubbing her thumb against my knuckles.

"I dunno, I just don't have a good feeling." I sighed and I heard Claudia hum.

"You should ask her what's going on. Communication's key." Claudia reminded me and I agreed.

"You know what, I will. I'll ask her when she returns." I replied, making up my mind.

"Shouldn't she be back by now? It's been long." She asked and I knit my eyebrows at the thought.

Right then, the doorbell rang.

"I'll talk later?" I replied and she agreed.

"And don't worry, it's all okay." Claudia consoled me once again and I tried my best to accept it.

Placing my phone on the coffee table, I walked towards the door and quickly opened it, only to reveal an exhausted Billie.

"Jesus, you look like you ran your way back here." I said, looking at her. A few strands of her hair stood out as she panted slightly.

"No, not really." Billie replied, throwing her car keys onto the kitchen cabinet.

She seemed to finish the conversations pretty quick, keeping all her responses short.

"Uh, can I ask you something?" I asked as I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of red wine.

"You don't have to ask if you could ask something angel, you know that." Billie replied with a smile and returned the gesture.

"Is there anything I don't know about?" I asked and caught Billie take in a sharp breath.

"Why'd you ask that baby?"

Maybe I shouldn't feel guilty, but I couldn't help it.

"I dunno, it's just," I sighed as I sat down beside her, placing both the wine glasses on the table, "you've been different for the past few months. It's just different. And...and you're always with Quinn." It felt good to let it all out in a very long time.

Her expressions changed, as Billie looked down.

"Is everything okay my love?" I softly asked her, taking her hand in both of mine.

"Quinn and I were planning your party. Your birthday's in a week."

"For months?" I asked and she slowly nodded.

"You didn't really celebrate your twenty-fifth, so we thought of throwing a huge one for your twenty-sixth."

I slumped down into my seat as she explained everything. A part of me was glad to know what it finally was, but I felt bad for ruining the surprise.

"I'm sorry." I spoke as I fidgeted with my fingers.

"No, no it's fine. I can't hide shit from you for long anyway." She replied with a chuckle.

"Thank you." I smiled at her.

Leaning in, she placed her lips on mine.

By the time I was aware, I climbed on top with my fingers slipping under her baggy t-shirt.

The familiar scent filled my lungs as I pulled her closer. My stomach was in knots as my hands travelled up further.

"Someone's eager." Billie whispered roughly, letting out a chuckle as she pulled away for a second.

"Shut up." I muttered, before pulling my shirt over my head, proceeding to carelessly throw it onto the carpeted floor.

Getting under the covers, I turned towards Willow. She was busy scrolling through Instagram, liking random posts. I softly smiled and sighed to myself as I looked at her.

Willow froze for a second before placing her phone down and looking at me. Letting out a chuckle, she rolled her eyes. "What?" She asked and I shook my head.

"Nothing."

"Well, stop acting like you're gonna kill me any second." She responded, going back to her phone, smiling.

I shut my eyes as my neck jerked slightly. I tightly clench my fists. My head jerked and Willow soon realized, as she instantly kept her phone down and moved closer.

"Hey, hey, hey. Come here." She softly whispered, as she wrapped her arms around me. My eyebrows raised as I leaned into her, trying to calm down.

"Shh... breathe baby." She softly whispered, cupping my cheeks.

After a few minutes, I slowly calmed down.

"What happened?" She asked softly.

"I-I dunno. Fuck." I sighed, frustrated.

"Is there anything on your mind?" She asked, and I nodded my head no.

But there was something. I couldn't tell her what was bothering me, not yet.
