(Y/N) was loyal to the Death Key pack. Always were, always had been. Though they had started to get an odd feeling around the large black-and-burgundy hellhound..

(Y/N) snarled at Cobalt as they passed by him. He was being loud and making a ruckus. "Stay down, doggy."

"Do you know who you're talking to?" Cobalt snarled back, staring into their (E/C) eyes and trying to instill fear into them. It didn't work. 

Cobalt puffed up his fur, trying to look bigger. "I SAID, do you know who your talking to?" He circled them dangerously, ears flat to his head. (Y/N) looked nonchalant. 

Wolves nearby started to get close, wanting to see the action that was about to happen.

"(Y/N)! I SAID-" 

(Y/N) tackled Cobalt, snarling loudly, teeth clamped on his throat. Cobalt wasn't the fighter, being pinned to the ground with ease. His once fearsome look dwindled to that of a puppies'; scared and not threatening at all. 

"Do you know who you're talking to, Cobalt?"

"Go (Y/N)!"

"Tear his throat out, that mange-pelt!"

"I want to see his blood on the ground!"

The surrounding wolves started cheering them on, all the while Cobalt thrashed around with no precision.

"Oh, what's this?" 

The wolves fell silent, backing away with their heads bowed and their tails lowered. (Y/N) dropped Cobalt, tail lowering as well. "Hello, Alpha."

"A-Alpha! Did you SEE what that traitorous--" 

"Cobalt. You looked like a fish out of water. What WAS that? You didn't even try to fight back! Embarrassing," The hellhound spat, turning his gaze to (Y/N). 

"N-No! No, my lord! You've got it all wrong! (Y/N) came at me and- and-" The brown-and-beige wolf feebly tried to defend himself. But the Death Alpha didn't care. (Y/N) braced for a "You're getting a beating tomorrow". 

It didn't come.

The hellhound's gaze softened. "(Y/N).. you were amazing out there. Taking down my second in command and putting him in his place. And for this.." He let out a throaty chuckle. "I'd like you to take Cobalt's place as my beta."

Gasps erupted from the surrounding wolves.

"But Cobalt's always been your second-in-command!" A green-and-white shewolf cried.

"Things change." The Death Alpha growled.

(Y/N) felt their heart flutter. "I-I.. th-thank you, Alpha." They sputtered. 

"Follow me, Cobalt." The Alpha snarled before walking off, not checking to see if the brown-and-beige wolf was coming.

Cobalt shot (Y/N) an annoyed glare before walking off, tail and ears drooping.

(Y/N) basked in the feeling of happiness after the ordeal.

(Y/N)'s feelings toward the Death Alpha only got worse and worse. Every time they even set a PAW by him, their heart would be pounding.

They were resting in the Death Alpha's nest, per his request. (Y/N) had gotten hurt a couple days ago and he wanted to monitor their progress.

There he was now, entering the den with an emotion (Y/N) had never seen on him before: 

Anxiety.

"Alpha..?" They brought their head up, staring into his eyes.

"(Y/N).. I don't want you to die before you know this." The hellhound laid down by them. "I love you, (Y/N)."

"Alpha..?"

"You know what, this was a stupid idea." He growled, getting up to leave.

"Alpha, wait, I.. I love you too.."

"Stop it, you're hurting him!" (Y/N) screamed, tears falling from their eyes. That stupid Pure of Heart wolf had stabbed their mate in the chest!

"Go AWAY!" (Y/N) leaped at Kara, ripping her horn out and flinging the Soul of Stones away.

They started tearing away at her, snarling loudly. Until they felt something clamp down on their neck.

A hollowed.

The hollowed of smoke.

"Get-! Get off of me!" Their struggles became weaker. The Death Alpha snarled and attacked Arrow, ripping his throat out. 

(Y/N) laid on the ground, bleeding out and feeling their heart beat grow weaker and weaker and weaker. 

A flash of black and burgundy was near their face.

"(Y/N)?! (Y/N), get up.." The hellhound said gruffly, pressing his nose to their (F/C) fur.

"I won't be alive much longer.." They let out a hoarse laugh.

"I'm sorry, Alpha.. I've failed you."
