Evalyn Javernick

It is cold, very cold. The winter air blowing against my half-naked body. I felt my heart beating faster as I sprinted through the forest. Imprints of my barefoot visible on the moss forest ground of New Mullion.

The air around me became thicker as I started running faster through the thick woods trying to lose them. I didn't sign up for this shit. I always get into trouble. I should listen to Ethan more often. Fuck. Ethan is going to murder me.

I woke up in the morning wearing my jogging pants and a sports bra to jog around the forest edge. I peacefully jogged for the first thirty minutes. Then I smelt them. Their powerful presence came from behind me. Then I ran as fast as I could.

My pursuers turned into their beautiful beasts. Gaining speed. I felt my canines brush against my lips as I transformed into my wolf. My clothes tore against the shift as my limbs morphed into paws. Thick hair visible on my arms and legs.

I sprint into the forest fast as I can. My paws thudding against the forest ground. I willed myself to run without making noise. The tree branches forming a canopy above my head. The smell of outdoors wafting into my nostrils making me run even faster

I made the mistake of stopping and looking back to check whether I lost them or not. I could see their golden eyes gleaming at me. I rather felt than saw the wolves gaining more speed. Their presence engulfed me.

My pursuers continued chasing me as if I am the only lone wolf in the forest. They had been hunting me for the past five years. Failing every single time.

It seemed as if this time the wolves chasing me were much faster and stronger, stronger than the ones from last time. They found me every time regardless of the number of times I struggled to hide but failed in capturing me.

The Alpha must have sent his greatest and strongest warriors. He wanted me captured just like any other wolf as I was a lone wolf, but everyone mistook me for a rogue. I just know that I and Ethan had to migrate to some other place.

I have been running for a while now. My limbs turning sore, cramps forming. It has been a while since I had run for my life.

The beams of moonlight grazing against my fur, replenishing my strength. I run as fast as I can. Making sure to buy me a few minutes so they will be off my trail for a while.

I continued running, searching for the road. Where was the road? I panicked for a moment. Desperate not to get caught. I run faster than I ever ran in my entire life. It is either death or freedom.

As I was running, I found the road. I quietly shifted back to my human form creeping among the shadows. The cold air is a balm to my sweaty and heated skin.

I slowly crept away from the forest. I turned and peered into the darkness, making sure I lost my pursuers. My fear and panic eased down as seconds flew past.

I felt my nipples turn erect as they came in contact with the cold air. I groaned in frustration. Did it have to turn erect right now? Now I am going to be uncomfortable the entire ride home.

As I crept away from the forest, I saw the Gas Station where I had parked my car. I made sure no one spotted me as I moved towards my car silently. I slipped through the driver's seat and reached for my evening bag which was stashed under the backseat. I quickly changed into the spare clothes and drove towards my flat.

The panic welled in my throat eased down as the town came into my view. A quiet, peaceful town ruled by Alpha- Rowan not only this town but also some of the neighboring towns. He is one of the most dangerous and strongest Alpha as he is a purebred.

A purebred wolf is a direct descendant from the first Lycan kings and queens making them their heir to the crown. Though I wonder why he hasn't claimed his throne yet.

I and Ethan have been hiding amongst the humans for a few years as it is the safest place for any wolf who is on the run. Well, it is due to the werewolf laws made by the council. For humans to be unaware of our existence and to keep peace within each other. A council was made of the wisest and oldest of the werewolf family. But there are a few selective humans who know about our existence.

As per one of the most important werewolf laws no werewolf, no matter his or her position in the society can kill any other werewolf or human on the town grounds.

I snapped out of my thoughts as I saw the bright streetlights and averted my eyes to the road. Reaching my small apartment. I pulled over into the garage.

I stepped out of my car and scanned my surroundings, satisfied that there is no danger lingering. I made a move towards the stairs. It has become my everyday habit due to my growing paranoia for my safety as well as Ethan's.

I heard a ringing noise and took a fighting stance. Realizing it was my phone I picked it up and found twenty missed calls. Fifteen from Arial and five from my Ethan. Fuck.

Arial is my human friend who knows nothing about werewolves. I have been friends with her for over a year. We got to know each other in a club. She looked so scared and awkward looking sitting on a barstool drinking a cocktail. I somehow managed to make her drink a few more shots to ease her nerves. She then opened up to me about how her family depends on her way too much as she is the eldest. I remember her saying I love my family, but they can be too much sometimes. I still remember that day thinking about my parents.

We clicked almost instantly becoming great friends. She is also the one who got me a job in her workplace. She is innocent and funny. Like very innocent. She is a virgin Mary too afraid to mingle and get laid. She becomes a mother hen sometimes. Not to make her wait any longer.

I picked up her call.

"Eva!! What happened? I have been trying to reach you for over an hour." She shouted at me. Sounding angry and panicked.

"Sorry I went out for a jog and left my phone in the car," I mumbled an apology.

"I swear to god. I was so scared for you. I did not know what to do. I called Ethan and told him, and he became really angry " She muttered.

"Oh my god. Why did you call him? Bitch. I am dead for sure. My poor ass." Shit. Ethan is going to kill me now.

"Sorry I thought you were dead or something. Get good spankings from him. You deserve it" She replied sounding sorry. Talk about being a mother hen.

"Okay, okay calm down. I am sorry". I laughed. Little did she know how close I was to death. Did she seriously tell me to get good spankings?

"What is so funny?' She asked, sounding curious.

"Nothing" I yawned, sounding exhausted.

"Oh, I think you should take a nice hot shower and sleep." She suggested.

"Thank you for the idea mom. I was planning to do that before you called me and started lecturing me" I said sarcastically.

"Oof bye. Take care. Call me tomorrow." She said and cut the call.

I made it to my flat. I tried opening the door, fumbling every time. Annoyed, I let out a growl. After a few attempts, I slid the key into the hole and entered my flat. I quickly removed my clothes and stepped into the shower. I scrubbed my body clean and tried to forget today's event. I wore my big fluffy baby pink robe and entered my bedroom.

I was way too tired to call Ethan back. I just know I am fucked tomorrow. Falling onto my bed I welcomed the darkness letting it consume me.
