"Open the cell."
Those three words made my heart pound.
I have faced the Akatsuki head-on. I escaped from the Anbu, even dealt with Sasuke Uchiha. So why is this guy scaring me so much...
But I know my instincts. And they're never wrong.
My eyes tore away from him to Itsuki, pleading him not to. Itsuki seemed to be in so much shock, just looking at him made my head hurt. His expression was like he was reliving his worst nightmare... is it PTSD or something? What exactly did this Rinnes do to Itsuki?
"Rinnes-sama, please... please reconsider.." Itsuki choked out, and Rinnes smiled. It made my blood run cold. "Ara ara, what is this? Are you speaking back to me?" He took a step towards Itsuki and he shrunk away. Shit. I'm trying to save my skin, but I have to help him too. But I'm chained and too wounded to move. What do I do...
I heard a crash and turned to see Itsuki crushed against the wall. No. no...
"You've never disobeyed me no matter how painful it was, have you? After all, I did, took in scum like you... you dare to-'' Itsuki coughed up blood, but still didn't give Rinnes the key... this guy- is he really going to die for me? no ... I can't let that happen-
"Oi oi" I called out, even when my heart threatened to stop. "Didn't you come to play with me?" I said. My words shook, but I held my head high.
Itsuki looked at me like I was out of my mind. Which I was. No doubt.
The devil turned its smile to me. A few of his guards stormed in holding down Itsuki as he thrashed in their hold. He was already pretty wounded so he was no match for them. Rinnes took out the key and entered my cell.
I could still hear Itsuki behind him. "Please, don't hurt her..."
In all the chaos, I couldn't help but feel the slightest bit glad. This is probably the worst situation I could ever imagine, but it at least brought me to a guy who's willing to lay down his life for me. In this world where I knew everyone but trusted none, I have one soul who pleads for my safety.
"Itsuki, it's okay," I said, and I was surprised at how calm my voice sounded.
"Ohh so you're close that enough huh? How incredibly bold of you to call my pet by his name like you own him?" his hand slapped my face, and it was then that I realized the power of his hand. My ears ring, and my cheek burned at the point of contact.
"Your pro-perty?" I said as the pain spread.
"Yes, I raised him. This land, these people, they're all mine. Even you, you belong to me."
My laughter echoed through the cell.
I spit the blood on his face. "Bullshit, I belong to me. Go to hell, you crazy bastard."
Itsuki screamed behind me. I didn't realize in time, as the rod Rinnes swung already cracked my knee.
