a/n i'm using the name maya because I like it. don't come at me 😁

Anthony and his 3 year-old daughter Maya were sat in his bed reading one of her favorite stories. Soon Anthony started tickling Maya and she was squealing with laughter. Jasmine smiled at the sight of her 2 favorite people. 

"Maya, baby, it's bedtime now," Jasmine said calling out to her climbing into her and Anthony's shared bed.

"But mama, I not tired!" Maya protested obviously not wanting to go to bed.

"You must be tired bubba, you had preschool today, then dance, and then you went out to see Abuela and tío Mario," Jasmine replied scooping Maya out of bed

"Papa! Help me! I no want to sleep!" She told her dad, reaching her arms out for him. "I no like bedtime," Maya grumbled trying to cross her arms like her parents would. Anthony just chuckled in response and shook his head. 

"But Maya, what if mama and I want to sleep?" Anthony asked.

"den, I sleep with you an mama," she fought back, she was in no state to sleep, she wanted to stay up.

"It's late baby-" Jasmine started but ended up getting cut off by Maya

"I no baby, I'm big girl mama an-an I can stay up" The toddler said cheerfully a grin plastered on her face, the parents sighed before Jasmine said something again.

"Maya, come on bubba please, just sleep for a little bit and then we can wake you up and we can play" Jasmine lied, she clearly wasn't going to wake up her daughter at night just so she could play. 

"Promise mama, promise papa?" She asked.

Jasmine and Anthony shared a glance before both saying they promise.

Anthony kissed Maya on her forehead before Jasmine took her into her room and tucked her into bed.

"Night Maya, we love you,"

"Night, night mama I love you, " she responded a yawn cutting off her last word.

"You get some sleep baby we'll see you in the morning," Jasmine said kissing the three year-olds cheek.

"I not baby," she babbled again although Jasmine could hardly hear it as Maya was slowly falling into a deep slumber.

The adults we're woken up around 2 am in the morning to a tear-stricken climbing onto the bed.

Anthony was the first to wake up after hearing sniffles coming from Maya's room

"Maya, oh princesa, what happened?" Anthony asked softly.

"Papa? Papa I-I had a bad dream an-an- mama an-an  papa we're being very mean," The toddler sniffled. 

"Oh love, come here do you want to come to lie with papa?" asked a very concerned Anthony, Maya only nodded in response climbing into Anthony's arms.

As Anthony was walking into the room he was cradling Maya, whispering in her ear that she was okay and kissing her.  Jasmine soon awoke to the bed dipping down further than usual. She looked over to her side seeing Anthony holding Maya rocking her back to sleep.

"Mama?" said Maya her sniffles slowly dying down and her tears had dried up.

"Hi sunshine, what happened?" she asked concerningly

"I had a bad dream mama. you an papa were being mean to me," the toddler noted

"What were mama and papa saying sunshine?" Jasmine asked again

"They was saying for me to sleep right now or else you an papa would take away all my toys an-an you were holding a sharp thing, " She answered clearly looking sad, guilt struck through the adults.

"Oh sunshine, you know mama and I would never do that to you," Anthony announced

"I know papa, it was just scary," 

"I know it was baby, I know you just like your dad, don't like sharp things, but don't worry princesa your safe," Jasmine assured.

"Can I sleep here now?" She asked quietly as Anthony combed through her hair.

"Yes baby, of course," Anthony replied

"It's bedtime for mama an papa now too," Maya giggled, her parents chuckling along. Jasmine and Anthony were happy that she was finally smiling again. 

"Yeah sunshine, it is our bedtime isn't it?" Jasmine said kissing her forehead.
