They are leading all of us into our rooms where visitors will come visit us before we head to inevitable death. I look around and so many people are in tears.... INCLUDING PAIGE!! I turn away and find myself standing next to Addiana.
" Are you scared?" I ask.
" Of course, but not as scared as Blake," she answers.
We go our separate ways and I go into my own room where I wait for my mother to come in. I wait for about twenty minutes and my door opens. My first visitor is my Aunt Katniss, Willow, and Rye. I look at Willow and I look at how beautiful she is with her long wavy brown hair and deep blue eyes. And Rye with his short blonde hair, brown eyes, and chubby toddler legs. They both came over and hugged me.
" Please try and win Haley," Willow says in her angelic voice. My Aunt Katniss comes and picks them both up and puts them behind her then she comes over to me and puts her hands on her shoulders.
" You are going to do great. Just try and win and if you don't I will always be proud of you. Also, I am coming with you." she says to me.
" You are??" I ask.
" Yes, I am your mentor.
After that, they get pulled out of my room by peacekeepers and the door closes. I am about to start crying but the doorknob starts turning and my door opens. It was my mother. I looked at her and then burst into tears. My mother runs over and tackles me in a huge bear hug.
" Don't cry Hunny, you are going to be okay," she says. Even though she is trying to comfort me she is still crying. So I decided that I need to stop crying. I wipe my eyes and look up at my mom.
" How is Cooper doing? "I ask, trying to change the subject.
" He has been projectile vomiting for the past forty minutes, so I'm not sure," she answers
" Mom, I'm scared.", I say and tears start rolling down my cheeks again.
" This is a very scary thing, sweetie." my mom tells me. Yup! She is failing at comforting me.
" I love you mom.", is all I say back. I think she was about to say it back but then peacekeepers pulled her out of my arms. I start thinking negatively again and the first thing that comes to mind is the fact that that was the last thing I will ever say to my mother again. I wait for what seems like another hour and my doorknob turns and my door opens. In comes my red-eyed, crying best friend, Addiana.
" Hey," she says to me, her voice shaky.
" Have you been crying this whole time?" I ask even though I already know the answer.
" Yeah, but I can hear Blake whimpering from my room," she answers. I just laugh. Will she always have this rivalry with Blake? Or will it change in the arena? I stop laughing and give her a hug and then peacekeepers come in and escort us to the train, which they made two times bigger so that all of the twelve-year-olds can have their own room.
I go into my room and my mouth falls open in shock. It's beautiful! The bed is huge and has a lush, green comforter. I have my own bathroom that has a HUGE walk-in shower. And I have a huge tv thingy with a remote that has a million buttons.
I go to the remote first. I press one of the buttons and the first thing that comes on is my home, district twelve. I stand there and I feel my eyes start to get misty. No, no more tears. I turn off the screen and go shower. The shower had a million buttons also. I didn't know what they all did so I pressed almost all of them. When I did that, it started shooting water at me and a lot of soap. It got in my eyes and the water almost drowned me. When the torture ended it shot me out of the shower and I landed on a soft rug. I stood there trying to recover from the horror that I had just experienced and I realized that I would be late for dinner. I dried off and put on some of the clothes provided. I wore a flower shirt, some nice pants, a brown belt, and some brown flats. For once in my life, I actually looked decent. I did my hair and went to dinner. When I arrived there was a whole feast prepared. It covered a long table that was already surrounded by my friends. I sat down at the table and grabbed a chicken leg. I took a bite and then took a closer look at my friends'. All of them just seemed pale, other than Blake who had tear stains on his cheeks and red, puffy eyes. Coby sat down next to me.
