Chapter 9: What Hurts The Most

What hurts the most

Was being so close

And having so much to say

And watching you walk away

And never knowing

What could've been- Rascal Flats- What Hurts The Most

⚠️🍺Underage Drinking 🍺⚠️

-Opie's POV-

Celebrating my 18th birthday was very different from any normal eighteen year old. The crew gave me a wicked patch in / birthday party along with my New leather kutte . . Beer , food , a few other Samcro members from other charters and crow eaters that were always willing to do anything with you just to gain sexual attention , all you had to do was say when and where. I felt invincible. However Sage couldn't be here during these parties . She called and wished me a ' Happy Birthday' and Congrats, but it wasn't the same. I missed her being around.

I finished the last drop of beer I had and walked to my brand new Harley , with Jax following me.

" Ditching your own party this early ?" He asked lightning a cigarette

" Somethings missing" I shrugged

" I take it that Sage Teller is the one that's missing, she's at her dads house or at her friend Sky's"

"I know , I think it's time for that talk with Jack Teller" taking a breath as I put on my helmet and got in my bike.

Jax left out a puff of smoke " hate to say this, but don't get your hopes up , good luck brother "

" Won't know till I try " I shrugged and made my way to Sage's house.

*********

Cutting the bike engine , I walked over to the tree in her front yard and traced over our initials we carved .

Knocking on the door, taking a deep breath and surprisingly her father let me in .

" Hello Mr. Teller , I came to talk to you about Sage, Umm ... this isn't easy for me , but... I've been in love with your daughter for a few years now , and I'd like your permission to date her, I'd like her to be my old lady." I managed to get out as I fixed the collar of my shirt

" Old lady? Boy you're 18 years old, she's 16 . She's still a child. That club is toxic , I only allow her to be around you and them so I don't actually have to be a father . I pay her hardly any mind at all. Hanging around toxic killers , your father included. It's bad enough that club killed my brother .... I just know it, I think it's best you leave boy" Jack Tell said as he pointed to the door

" Yes sir !" I said sadly walking out the door , climbing on my Harley and looking up at Sage's window , her bedroom light was off , meaning she wasn't home , and I drove away thinking ' At least I tried '

-End of Opie's POV-

Sage was hiding in the next room behind the door as she was putting laundry in the dryer when she heard Harry at the door .she stayed quiet and peeped through the door

Her heart shattered at what she just heard and witnessed . She wasn't surprised at her fathers true feelings about her , she figured that out after her mom passed . Hearing the faint roar of Opies bike fade further away. Marching out to the kitchen

" REALLY DAD?! HE'S MY BEST FRIEND! YOU KNOW YOU PROBABLY JUST PUSHED HIM AWAY OUT OF MY LIFE RIGHT? YOU SAID YOU BARELY PAY ATTENTION TO ME AND YET TOU STILL HAVE A SAY OF WHO AND WHO I CAN'T DATE" she yelled as her face turned beat red.

" YOU'RE STILL MY RESPONSIBILITY!"

"SERIOUSLY DAD?! I DON'T KNOW WHO YOU ARE ANYMORE AFTER MOM DIED! AUNT GEMMA, ,UNCLE JOHN, JAX, HARRY , WERE THERE FOR ME WHEN YOU BAILED ON ME WHEN I NEEDED YOU MOST. WHAT IF I HAVE FEELINGS FOR HARRY? WHAT IF I DO LOVE HIM?!" Tears peaked in her eyes while her lips were trembling

" YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT LOVE IS GIRL! NOW GO TO YOUR ROOM! He yelled as he slapped his hand on the table like he does when he gets angry.

Running down the hall and slamming her door, sobbing as she changed into her night clothes and crawled under the covers . All she could hear are her sobs and the sounds of her ceiling fan. Crying into her pillow . Her heart hurt so much . She was so close to admitting to Ope how she felt at the cabin , but she was scared. Now she's feeling that throb of regret that she didn't .

Memories and thoughts crowded her mind of the night they spent at his cabin, it's became one of her favorite memories, as she cried herself to sleep.
