Later that same day, the team, plus Beth, decided to celebrate J.J's good news by having a bonfire outside on the back porch after the kids had gone to bed for the evening.
The girl's day had been cut short, J.J wanting to see the rest of the team and tell them the good news in person. They had spent the remainder of the day celebrating; swimming in the ocean, going out to dinner, even playing a game of volleyball in which Morgan managed to hit Emily (who was on his own team) in the forehead with the ball and earned himself a face full of sand.
"Ooh! I know. Let's play truth or dare!" Garcia exclaimed, met with groans from the rest of the adults.
"No, Garcia. We aren't in middle school" Hotch said, wrapping an arm around Beth's shoulders. Garcia pouted.
"And besides; I promised Blake that nothing illegal would be happening this weekend." Rossi added.
"Well then can we play a version of 20 questions? Nothing illegal, I promise" Garcia asked the group. They all nodded in agreement, knowing that it was pointless to try and argue against it. Penelope Garcia always got her way.
"Yay! Okay, so here are the ground rules. I will start by asking a question, and then whoever I ask gets to ask the next question and so on and so on. You have to answer all questions, and if you don't…you have to jump off the dock in all of your clothes. And—" Garcia was cut off.
"Wait…are we going to ask grade school questions like what your favourite colour is, or adult questions?" Rossi asked, holding up a hand to stop the rambling woman. Garcia smiled.
"Anything you want. And you can either ask the whole group, or just one person. And if you ask the group, you have to answer too. Okay?" she asked the group. The team, plus Beth, nodded their heads. She clapped her hands together joyously. "Yay! Okay, I'll start. Hotch, who's your celebrity crush?" Garcia asked, turning to her boss. The man glanced wearily at his girlfriend.
"Go ahead Aaron. I'd like to hear this" Beth said, a smug smile on her lips. Hotch swallowed nervously.
"Bellamy Young" he told the team, his cheeks a light shade of pink. The team laughed; they had never seen their boss like this. J.J glanced at Beth.
"You know, you kind of look like her Beth" she said, met with a shy smile from Beth.
"You know, I get that a lot" she said, accompanied by laughs from the rest of the team. J.J was right; Beth really did look like Bellamy.
"Okay, now ask a question Hotch" Garcia pushed as the man slipped back into a somewhat more professional role.
"Uh…what's your favourite flavour of ice cream J.J?" he asked. The blonde woman scoffed.
"That's all you've got? Fine, I guess I'd have to say chocolate chip cookie dough, but that's weak Hotch. My question is for…Emily" J.J said, looking at the woman who sat on the loveseat between Alex and Morgan. Emily gulped.
"Why am I so scared?" the brunette asked, accompanied by a laugh from the other adults. Based on past games, J.J had the tendency to be very aggressive with her questions.
"What's your magic number Em?" J.J asked, a smug, victorious smile slowly spreading across her face. Emily couldn't get out of this one.
"Jen, I already told you, I'm not answering that." Emily said, whacking Morgan on the back of the arm to keep the man quiet. J.J smiled devilishly.
"You know the rules Em. You have to answer" she told her friend. Garcia stepped in then, raising her hand.
"Not so fast there sunshine. She can send that question back, and, as much as it pains me to say, because I do want to know how big of a player the woman is; if you don't answer, she doesn't have to" the colourful woman explained from her seat next to Reid.
