I am a true definition of the malay slaves
Who left home , probably in anticipation to find hope but arrived at the place of the roaring walls where no one ever comes back
Those migrants who left Europe in order to find a home in our native land

In my veins courses the blood of our forefathers
Who bore  stripes from the slave master
And endured the unimaginable oppression through physical labour to feed the nation
The dignity they carried informs my bearing
Their cultures i shall not permit to perish

I am a formed of those who demanded that freedom was a necessity of human existence
But whatever their intentions they did not let the affections affect their attention
For i am born with the skin of a chocolate colour and the people of Africa teach me to think like a star within me a thundering song i will sing

From the coarseness of my hair
To my voluptuous lips from the way i move to the curves of my hips
Nne ndi mu-afrika kare ke ngwana wa mo-afrika ke nyantse letswele la mo-afrika
Kera yona Africa naga ya maswi le dinose

When the music of African beats in the wind i become the essence of the sound
When the stories of Africa echo around the fire i become the footprints of history

Mina ngi inzalo kule sizwe sa se afrika
Isizwe esiphakathi kwe zizwe ezidlayo ngo buzwe be afrika
Isizwe esidla phakathi kwe zinye izizwe za se afrika

I am an African woman
So when the time for time to come has come
Bury me at the sea and let the tears of my ancestors wash over me for i am an Africanist
