"Are you ready for your date with George?" Ang asked, throwing me my mascara.
"I think so," I said, looking myself up and down in the mirror and smoothing out my dress. "Well are you going to show me?" Ang asked, coming into the bathroom with a smile on her face. "You look amazing Rose! Green is definitely your color."
I looked my dress up and down. It was a long dress that went far past my knees and had a matching tank top that was fitted to me perfectly, sculpting my body into a more curvy shape when I put it on. The pattern for the dress was a flowery one, not anywhere near my normal attire, but I felt beautiful in it, and I hoped George would like it to, but I tried not to keep my hopes up in that sense.
"Where are you two going again?" Ang asked, throwing me a gold necklace.
"I have no idea. He's picking me up here, so probably somewhere in town." I said, putting on the delicate necklace and its matching earrings.
"You have to tell me everything!" Ang said, practically jumping with excitement for me.
"I will." I promised, grabbing a light sweater and heading downstairs with her holding my peach combat boots.
"Here, take these." She handed the boots to me.
"Thanks. I don't know what I would have done without you to help me." I pulled on the shoes and admired how they fit with my outfit.
She laughed and pushed me down the last level of stairs. "Go get your boy."
Just as she said that, the front door echoed with a loud knock, and Missy appeared to open it, but I stopped her. "I got it Missy, thanks though."
"Have a good date with Mr. Weasley, Miss Rose." Missy said, trotting away.
"Hey missy, would you please just tell my mum and dad I'm out with Angelina?" I asked, knowing exactly what would happen if they found out I was going on a date.
"Sure miss, have fun." She disappeared with a crack.
I went to the door to find George standing with a bunch of daisies in his hands, and a nervous smile on his face. "My lady," He joked, handing me the flowers.
I smiled, "my lord." I bowed slightly and accepted the handful of flowers with a brighter smile. "Are you finally going to tell me where we're going?"
"Not a chance. Hop in the car." He said, leading me to his old-fashioned car.
"Since when do you have a car?" I asked, admiring the beautiful car.
He smiled, "It's me and Fred's actually. We've been saving up with selling the joke shop products, and we just got it back from the shop yesterday."
I beamed with pride as I sat down in it's white seats. "It's amazing."
"Off we go." George said with a smile on his face. "Did you tell your parents a specific time that you'd be back?"
"I said probably until later, when will I be back?" I asked, completely unsure of where we were going.
"Not until late." George said, a smirk on his face.
"Oh would you stop teasing! Just tell me where we're going!" I said, punching his arm lightly.
"Be patient Rosie." George joked, putting an arm around me as we drove through the countryside. "Is now a bad time to ask you to put on a blindfold?"
I huffed. "Yes."
George looked at me with puppy eyes. "Please, it'll ruin the fun if you see where we're going before we get there."
I narrowed my eyes. "Fine, but if you dump water on me or something, you're dead."
He laughed and handed me the bandana. "Deal."
I put it on and held his hand on the center console, not wanting to let go of the one thing that was keeping me from going insane from the lack of senses. "How far away are we? We've been driving forever."
"Actually we're here now. It's a bit of a walk from here, do you mind?" George said as the car came to a halt.
I rolled my eyes even though he couldn't see them. "I'll walk, but if you drop me off a cliff or something-"
"I know, I'm dead." George came around and helped me out of the door, putting my arm around his shoulder and my other hand in his as well.
We walked for 15 or so minutes in silence, each of us anxious for whatever George had planned at the end of our little hike. I knew the sun was low, for it kept getting darker and darker. I took note of everything on our little walk, like the wind was strong, which must mean we are up high, the air was dry, meaning we weren't in a forest. The ground underneath us was solid, but something dry kept brushing against my legs as George led me down the path. That was the other thing, based on how small the trail was, and how often I kept being led over bumps in the trail, I knew we weren't on a well-used trail.
George put his hands on my shoulders to stop me. "We're here."
He slid off my blindfold, and I practically glowed with excitement. George had set out a picnic, fit with champagne glasses and soda bottles, bowls and bowls of fruits and chips, and at least 5 bouquets of flowers. More than that, he chose the most amazing spot for our first date. We were in a large clearing right on top of a grassy hill filled with wildflowers that filled the air with their sweet scent. The sunset was starting to cast hues of pink and purple across the area, making the tan ground erupt in color. Behind us sat a tall cliff, with a beautiful waterfall that bounced off the rocks like it was dancing in the light, casting diamonds over the rocks and pond beneath it.
"Oh my god George." I said, breathless.
"You like it?" George asked nervously.
It took all of my not to break out in laughter, but I didn't want to hurt his feelings. He was obviously seriously worried about me liking this place. Instead of telling him how amazing it was, I pulled him in for a long kiss, whispering when we pulled away, "I love it."
"I'm glad." George said, leading me to sit down at the picnic blanket. "Did I tell you how beautiful you look today?"
I blushed. "You didn't actually, but thanks."
Suddenly his face turned a bit more serious. "You know you don't have to dress up for me right? I couldn't care less if you came in sweats and a hoodie."
I smiled. "Of course I know that. I dressed up because I wanted to look nice. But I will remember the sweats thing for next time."
He smiled and poured some of the root beer into the champagne glasses and gave one to me, toasting, "to us."
"To us."
