A bus honking told the group that it was time to head to the rink. Everyone was still staring at Nick and Kris's joined charms. It had been about ten seconds since everyone realized they were soulmates and no one had dared to breath.
"Umm," George interrupted the intense silence, "Maybe we should head to the bus so we don't- uhhh- miss the bus." He swallowed the lump of disbelief that has formed in his throat. He just watched two people discover they were soulmates, which is even less likely than finding your own soulmate.
"Yeah, I think that's a good idea," The blonde boy commented. Everyone stood still for another twenty seconds.
"Okay, now we really need to go," George interrupted the silence again. This time, everyone actually grabbed their stuff and the group headed downstairs to the bus.
——
The bus was actually the hockey team's bus they used to travel when competing with other schools, but since George was the only figure skater in his school, he went on their bus when it was just taking them to the rink. The rest of the hockey team and cheerleaders were already waiting.
Nick and Kris had held hands when walking out. George and Clay cringed at how cliche they were.
Clay bent down a little, since he was quite a bit taller than George, and whispered to him, "I feel like we're living in some cheesy 90's romcom and I don't know how to feel about it."
"Honestly, I feel like this shit isn't even real."
"LANGUAGE!" The voice came from a junior boy on the team who goes by Bad, "But like also what happened?"
Clay shook his head, "We'll explain to everyone when we're on the bus." They all piled in and took their seats. Nick and Kris sat together, obviously, George and Clay sat across the isle from them, and Frankie went to sit with a couple of her friends in the back. George turned to see her talking to a girl with bright pink hair. He could tell that Frankie was a little jealous of Kris.
——
The freshman, Tommy, had a confused look on his face. "Wait wait wait. So... what?" Clay and Nick had just finished telling the rest of the team about what happened.
"Yeah, fucking crazy."
"Language, but really, I'm happy for you Sapnap," Bad congratulated Nick, using his nickname.
"Okay, but I'm still confused," Tommy was turned around in his seat so he could face Nick.
"In time young one, in time."
"Phil," Tubbo called out to the team's coach, "Sap is being all cryptic again." Phil just chuckled and went back to his crossword puzzle. (haha old people tings) Tubbo was the other freshman player on the team. He and Tommy were still fifteen so they didn't have their necklaces yet.
"What about you, Dream?" Clay's teammate known as Ranboo now faced the blonde, "Find your soulmate yet?"
"No," Clay starts to fake cry.
——
The rest of the ride they all talked about whatever came up; hockey strategies, food, parties, anything to pass the time. George occasionally spoke up or answered a question, but he just listened most of the time. Watching the team have yelling contests then get shouted at by Phil was quite entertaining.
——
The skating place that they went to had two separate rinks in the building; one for hockey, rink A, and the other for figure skating, rink B. During school hours, rink B was open to anyone who wanted to use it and rink A was used by the adult hockey team. After school hours, Clay's team used rink A to practice. For rink B, you had to get a time slot. George was always second to go and always got an hour and a half. The kid that went before him was new at the rink and he was extremely good. George had only ever talked to him once in the locker room. His name was Wilbur.
