1. Lexie Grey

[ LEXIES POV ]

I walked down the aisle in my white dress with my dad holding me close. I had been waiting for this day for a long time but to know it was finally here it felt strange, different more magical than I thought it would be. I finally understood those girls who only lived to plan their weddings. The flowers, the bridesmaids it was all glamourous, yet the only thing I cared about in this moment was Mark.

"I take you Mark Sloan  to be my lawfully wedded husband , to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part. " I felt so happy I could honestly explode. Mer was behind me with Cristina, April and Callie.

 When I first asked Mer to be my maid of honour, she looked incredibly surprised but she said Yes as quickly as her mouth could move. Mark had proposed 6 weeks after the plane crash which everyone thought was very sudden but I simply thought the opposite. The crash had taught me many things but the main thing was I had to start living and having more fun so that was what I would do.

" Mark, you are my faviroute person, someone who I have such a powerful love for some days it feels like I may explode. You fill my heart with laughter, love and most of all happiness. Your smile makes my day so much better for whenever I am sad and you enter my frown turns upside down. I love you Mark and I am so happy I am here with you today committing to you and joining ours lives." I had rewritten my vows over and over and was scared he wouldn't like them but in that moment he smiled and  my life felt complete.

Me and Mark were enjoying married life when I took my boards and passed, it was harder than I thought. I did know what I was getting into by picking Neuro and Mark, Callie and Arizona helped me study even though it wasn't any of their specialties. Derek helped as well always quizzing me and making me talk him through surgeries while his hand recovered. 

A couple of months later Mer had Derek Bailey Shepard. Her son was beautiful and looked almost exactly like Derek. They loved the little boy with all their heart, and I was so happy to be part of his life. 

Dr Josephine Wilson was on my service and she did not show much love for Neuro but that did mean we could be friends. We hung out all the time after that and joked around 24/7.

Me and Mark were very surprised when we found out I was pregnant with our first baby, we were looking at the ultrasound when we decided we wanted the baby's gender to be a surprise. Everyone was so happy for us and now my career was better than ever I was ready to be a mum.

I was trying to remove the most unique tumor I had ever seen when my water broke, I needed to carry on with the surgery so the baby would have to wait I can remember my contractions hurting so hard I wanted to pass out. It wasn't till I was 3 minutes apart I paged Derek and Mark.

I was rushed into the nearest room even if it wasn't OB It really really hurt. 

"We need you to push Lexie." The OB was driving me mad but I knew I had to push.

Mark held my hand through the whole thing until a baby came out. 

I did feel a tiny bit bad though when I saw the state of Marks hand.

We named our baby boy Charles Derek Sloan, he was the cutest thing I had ever seen. Not long after Charles we decided to move into a big house when we found out I was pregnant with our second baby this time a girl. The house had 5 bedrooms which was great because even though Callie and Arizona had Sophia more Mark really wanted for her to have a room of her own. One room for us, one for Charles, One for our baby girl, One for Sophia and one spare.

When Amelia Shepard (Derek's Sister) decided to work here I was so excited to meet her. She had the most amazing personality and me, Jo and Amelia were always together.

We named our girl Amy Josephine Susan Sloan. After my 2 best friends and my mum. She would have loved the kids and loved Mark, my dad visited every now and then but was travelling a lot more. Mark, Meredith, Derek, Amy, Charles, Callie and Arizona were all my family. 

I was taking out tumors and clipping aneurisms and living my best life me and Mark had decided that we were going to start trying for a 3rd baby and that if we got pregnant that would be our last baby. It took a very long time to get pregnant but we eventually did. When we had our last baby boy James Archie Sloan 1 month later it was Charles 5th birthday we threw a big dinosaur party in the garden it was also hard to believe Sophia was nearly 11.

 I got into plants and then I decorated the garden, Mark was always in Surgery even on his nights of. He was mostly at work at night and was here to watch me wake up and look after the kids in the day. On the couple days on when we were both off we took the kids out of school and went to theme parks or went shopping with them.

(15 years later)

Charles had just become a cardio fellow at Mayo clinic and Amy a peds resident about to take her boards. James was about to start his internship and we were honestly so proud of them. We met each Saturday for dinner and talked about their weeks and how they were doing.

Ten weeks after Amy took her boards and passed Mark retired from surgery and spent all his time at the house.

I decided that I was going to take early retirement and spend more time with him.
