When I woke up, I was strapped to a bed in the medical ward. I groaned. My suicide attempt failed, and I was still stuck here. I laid in the bed, wondering why I couldn't just die. Eventually, sleep overtook me, and I passed out, wishing to be released from this prison.
"Cat? Cat, are you there? Stay with me." I slowly rose from unconsciousness, to see a figure seemingly made of purple smoke, sitting next to my bed. I stared at it, until I registered the nickname.
"Shirakumo?" I whispered, tears filling in my eyes. I had never expected to actually see him in person before. I had always wondered what he had looked like, sure, but I hadn't expected this.
"It's me, Cat. I'm glad I finally get to see you in person." He said, looking at me with his yellow eyes. "And I'm glad we have this chance to talk as well."
"Why, what's going on? How long have I been out?" I panicked. He put his hand on my arm to calm me.
"Easy, Cat. You've only been out about a day. But.... All for One and the doctor have decided to sell you to another villian. You'll be working for him starting on Saturday." He said to me. I stared at him, wishing I could just die then and there.
"What's the villians name?" I asked him quietly, hoping this was just a hallucination.
"His names Overhaul, apparently. He's...... not very nice, from what I hear."
I began fully crying. "What am I going to do without you, Shirakumo? I'll just go mad and try to commit suicide again!" I cried out to him.
"Easy, Cat. I overheard some other things, so I THINK I might be able to save you from him after a while. But only if you don't do anything to endanger your life. Can you promise me you won't do anything stupid, Cat?" I nodded my head.
"I promise."
**On Saturday**
"Subject 119, this is Overhaul. You will be answering to him now. Do be sure not to disobey him." All for One said over the intercom. "If you are displeased with her, Overhaul, do remember that you can return her to us, as long as she is returned is the condition you are taking her in."
"Of course, All for One." The man said as we studied each other. Overhaul was wearing a green bomber jacket that had purple fur lining, a black dress shirt with a white tie, black jeans, white shoes and gloves, and strangest of all, a red and yellow plague doctor's beak mask. His clothes are in poor taste. None of it matches. I thought to myself as I followed his out to the outside world, a world I hadn't seen in years. I winced at the painful sunlight, letting out a grunt of pain.
"What's wrong with you?" He asked me, waiting for me a little ahead.
"I...I haven't been outside in years. My eyes need time to adjust... sir." I said, almost forgetting to say the last word. I didn't want him mad at me. He simply sighed.
"Fine. We'll wait two minutes for your eyes to adjust, but afterwards I don't want to hear anything." He said, obviously frowning under that mask of his. "I hate being outside in the dirt and filth...." He muttered to himself. So he's a clean freak... wonder how I might be able to use that to my advantage if Shirakumo does come rescue me.... I sat on a tree stump for a minute until my eyes finally adjusted to the light.
"My eyes have adjusted, sir." I said, standing up from my spot. He scowled at me, his eyes filled with annoyance.
"About time." He said, before continuing on the path with me following close behind him. I stared in wonder at the beauties around me, beauties of nature I had only seen in dreams for the longest time. After a few minutes of walking, we emerged from the wilderness to an isolated gas station next to what I thought was a highway, where a single car was parked. "Get in." He told me, before entering the passenger seat. I got in behind the driver's seat. Another person , this one in a surgical mask, started up the car.
"Need to stop anywhere? Or we going strait back to base?" He asked Overhaul.
"Straight back to base, I don't feel like getting filthier." Overhaul responded, leaning his seat back and closing his eyes. The lackey drove in silence for a few, then looked at me through the mirror.
"What's your name, girly?" He asked. I shivered. Girly? I hope he's not being perverted. I thought.
"Subject 119." I responded.
"Huh? The hell kinda name is that?" He said to me, pulling onto a freeway. I just shrugged.
"It was the only thing they ever called me in the lab. I just kind of... got used to it after a while." I said to him, looking out the window. Thank God I could distract myself with all these new sights.
"Subject 119, huh? How about we just call you Nineteen? That suit you?" He asked me, pulling into a city exit.
"Huh? Oh, yeah, sure. Nineteen works for me." I said to him as he pulled into the driveway of... A mansion? This couldn't be right. "Is this really your base?" I asked Overhaul who'd woken up from his nap.
"no, our real base is underneath it. The whole mansion is really just for show." He responded. Great, another underground super-lair I have to live in. I sighed.
"Will I be able to come back here to the surface, at least once in a while?" I asked him, causing him to turn and look at me.
"They really never let you out of that lab before I bought you, huh?" He asked me. I shook my head. "Fine, but only with supervision. And only if you behave and do good with your work." I nodded.
"Yes, sir." I responded, then thought about what he said. "What work will you have me doing, exactly?"
"You're going to be the caretaker of my plan's number-1 asset. It'll be up to you to make sure she Doesn't escape." He said to me, leading me into the base via typical secret entrance.
Escape? What does he mean by that? Does he have some kind of super Nomu he wants me to control? I wondered as he led me to a room and opened it revealing.... A little girl?
"Um, sir, she's a little girl. Are you sure-" He spun around, looking at me with such intensity in his eyes that I cut myself off. He then looked at the little girl.
"Eri, this is your new caretaker, Nineteen. Be good, and maybe you can keep her from getting killed." He said, before spinning around and walking out. I looked at the girl, and saw numerous bandages on her arms and legs. Don't tell me he experiments on her......
"Are you ok?" I asked her. She cowered in fear from me, clutching her blanket for protection. "Hey, I'm not going to hurt you. I'm just like you." I told her, rolling up my sleeves to show her the many scars I had. Her eyes widened at the sight.
"Did- did Kai do that to you, too?" She asked. So he IS experimenting on her.. I wished I could kill him then, but I knew it wouldn't do any good trying.
"No, someone else did. But you know what?" I said.
"W-what?" She said, still looking fearful.
"I'm going to get you out of this place. Even if I die trying."
Okay, so you're not going to get any Broccoli Boi, Angry Pomeranian, or Yandere Vampire this chapter, because next chapter is going to focus primarily on them training and Deku taking the UA entrance exam. Hope you enjoyed, and in the words of a dear friend: "Trench coats are cool."
