"Happy Birthday Oliver!" Octavia Hugged her Twin sibling. "We are officially 18!"

"Yes!" Oliver Exclaimed, "Perhaps I shall meet a lovely gentleman who shall court me."

"Yes, and I shall marry a lovely lady and we shall run off into the forest away from father."

Octavia wished she could tell Oliver about her girlfriend Artemis. He wouldn't mind that she had a girlfriend. The problem was that her girlfriend was a giant. Artemis was of a species called Vira humanoid beings that were 50 to 60 feet tall. Her Father King Algernon had waged war against the Vira many years ago pushing their species away.

"Happy Birthday my darlings!" Their mother Vivian walked in holding gifts. "I have gifts for you!" She handed Octavia a small flat box. Octavia opened it, Inside was a necklace with an amber pendant. "My mother gave this to me when I turned 18 and I wanted to pass it onto you."

"Thank you, Mother!" Octavia put the necklace on and looked into the mirror. It was truly beautiful.

"Of course dear. I hope it reminds you that I love you no matter what."

Oliver opened his package and peered inside.

"Oh, mother! Is this grandfather's ring?"

"It is! His father made it and passed it on to him, then to me, and now I want you to have it."

Octavia and Oliver both embraced their mother.

"I love you both so much!" Vivian stroked their hair. "You must get ready now your father is expecting us for breakfast."

Octavia walked down the hall to her room. She opened her wardrobe and picked a short-sleeved floor lengthed forest green dress that would flow in the wind. She pinned her hair into a bun and walked to the dining hall. Her mother and brother were already sitting waiting for her. She sat down next to Oliver and put her napkin in her lap.

"Hello children" the doors opened and KIng Algernon walked in accompanied by his personal servant. "Vivian."

"Hello, Father" Octavia and Oliver gave a monotonous reply.

"I have some wonderful news! Octavia is to be married in two weeks."

"What!" Octavia abruptly stood up. Her napkin fell to the ground.

"Compose yourself, Octavia." Algernon almost growled.

She sat back down and picked up her napkin.

"In fact, her suitor will be joining us for breakfast. Bring him in."

The door opened and in walked a man in his late 20's he walked over to Octavia and kissed her hand.

"Hello, Octavia. I am Sir Frances I do hope we get along."

The hairs on the back of Octavia's neck stood up. She did not like this man. There was something suspicious going on. She swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat.

"Yes, I do hope so." She looked down at her plate and pushed her food around. She decided then and there she was not going to be married to this man.
